You had to feel just a little sorry for little Hollie Steel tonight as she crumbled under the pressure of singing in the live semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent.
Singing ‘Edelweiss’ - in a key that was too high for the child – she was clearly uncomfortable with the song and I would like to bet that the song was chosen for her by Producers of the show. ‘Edelweiss’ in my opinion is not exactly a show-winning number unless you are the Von Trapp family…
Several contestants have claimed that they were stopped from singing the songs of their choice by the show’s Producers. Ten year old semi-finalist Natalie Okri complained that she was not allowed to sing her choice of song and another was chosen for her – the judges criticised her for this and the song she sang was all wrong for her.
Breaking down into tears mid-song Hollie was comforted by And and Dec with Amanda Holden approaching the stage. Hollie and her Mum requested the chance to start the song again but this was refused by Simon Cowell who changed his mind quickly when Hollie turned on the waterworks big time.
Hollie; this is showbusiness – it is high pressure and your nerves can often get to you. We do not know at this stage if other factors caused Hollie to not be able to complete her song, but I have to wonder if this child is taking part completely of her own free will…
It was uncomfortable viewing to say the least.
And a few minutes later the show went on for Hollie…
Hollie returned to sing her song and completed it like a little trooper. The song was all wrong for her in my opinion, it was pitched too high, but she carried it off and – Hollie – that’s the way it is done in showbiz. Well done little lady!

Get your facts straight before you publish. Simon Cowell made sure that Hollie did get a second chance after the producers had refused it. I don’t like the man, but he was kind to her and should get credit for that. You must have been in too much of a rush to get your voice out there that you didn’t bother to check your facts.
Remember, measure twice, cut once.
My facts are correct – I was watching the show and at first the decision was made NOT to allow her to sing, it was only when she spat her dummy that Cowell did a u-turn. I am watching the replay as I write – YOU check YOUR facts!
The kid was building up to a monumental tantrum so what was Cowell to do…?

You sound like a permissive parent? Any other act wouldn’t have got a 2nd chance to perform. She stuffed up, move on…it was unfair. What if someone messes up in the final? Do they get another chance before the phone lines open? Treat them all the same I say, rules are rules, don’t change them because someone throws a tantrum!
A permissive parent??? I would have dragged her off and given her a sound slap on the backside for behaving as such! Cowells back was against the wall – I would not have allowed her a second chance. Maybe they could have let her come back at the very end so she could get it right but it should not have qualified her for judging. With this kid stamping her feet on stage and Susan Boyle having swearing fits in public this show is really building up to be a total farce!
The kid has a name!
Tell me about it – the words ‘Hollie Steel’ are being googled left right and centre these days…why are people so bloody fascinated with ‘this kid’????!!!!
Why?
Because she is the cutest girl in the world and the most talented,
She has more talent on her little pinky than you’ll ever live to have!
Get a life and mull over the other troubles on this god forsaken planet of ours.
Yeah right and maybe you could find something more worthwhile to do with your time than googling little girls like Hollie Steel…
Some people are a worry.
