Perhaps this is a kinder way of saving this arrogant woman from going down in history as the person who took the best working model for education in Great Britain and destroyed it – for nothing more than satisfying her own political agenda as laid down by the former Sinn Fein Education Minister Martin McGuinness – to destroy the grammar school system in Northern Ireland.
“The people do not want academic selection in the Grammar Schools…” says this woman who educates her own daughter in a Catholic Grammar school south of the border.
Well yes they bloody well do Ms Ruane!
This is why parents have taken up in droves the selection tests put down by the grammar schools to replace the 11+ exam that Ms Ruane took away from the children of Northern Ireland. She believes that selection for grammar school should be based on whether or not the parents are welfare recipients or not – and is basing this criteria also on those who receive free school dinners and those who do not. ‘To make it fairer for all…’
Grammar school education should be there for those whose children are up to the standard, no matter whether they work or collect the dole. It should be the children’s academic ability that qualifies them NOT their parent’s financial circumstances; if people like Ms Ruane find this “unfair” for some stupid reason then tough titties.
Ms Ruane is intent on closing all Catholic Grammar schools by 2012 – but after her own child has safely attended one of course…but let’s hope that this destructive and arrogant woman has disappeared from Northern Ireland politics completely by then.

Ask Ms Ruane – before her daughter attended her current Catholic Grammar School South of the Border where was she educated? Answer – a Catholic Grammar School in Newry. And how did she gain entry to said school? – you’ve guessed it, she sat the 11+ when she had no need to as she was living in the South at the time! And this woman is our Education Minister, the lunatics really are running the asylum.
Exactly. Look, Sinn Fein have a definite agenda with regards to education here in Northern Ireland – and if this woman is not kicked (yes as in ‘booted’) out of this position we will end with a complete shambles of a system as they have in England. Just watch, it will be Grammar schools today – private schools tomorrow. The complete dismantling of the British model of education – as desired by Martin McGuinness – has begun.
I feel outraigously frustrated that you should try to bring down a woman who fights for children who are stuck in low funded “high” schools which i can tell you a less then a high standard of education not due to the pupils or staff but the sheer lack of money pumped into high schools which are supposedly created to help those who can not keep up with the achidemical “creame” You are all snobs eatch and every one of you.
You are a prime example of a poorly educated individual – your grammar is appalling and you cannot even make a valid point. Go back to school, you don’t know what you are talking about.
