The elderly do not matter in the UK

Yet another elderly couple in the UK have committed suicide together.  They are one more example of the British Govt’s total lack of care or consideration for it’s elderly population. People who have stayed married for over fifty years, paid their taxes, raised their families and never put their hands out for one cent of welfare…and yet they are treated in their twilight years as thought they are dirt. They have no feelings, they are no longer productive, they might forget to vote, they are sick…they are easily dispensible.

In the UK the only people who matter anymore are the dregs of society; people who refuse to work - sponging unmarried women whose only aim in life is to produce litters of kids by as many different men as possible - suspected terrorists - violence spouting Muslim Clerics - criminals and violent feral youths. These people all have ‘human rights’ that are well protected by the European courts, these people ‘matter’ to the Govt…but the elderly?

Social workers think nothing of separating couples who have been married for decades, putting the wife in one ‘care’ home and the husband in another.  They pay no heed at all to their feelings, they care not one bit about cutting in half a couple who have never left each other’s side ‘for better or for worse’  - ‘in sickness and in health’.

No wonder elderly couples are killing themselves rather be subject to the British version of  ’care of the elderly’.

In 60 years Tom and Nancie Hughes had never been apart. But Social Workers decided that it was time to split them up as Nancie had dementia and needed care in a facility, but made no effort to keep the couple together. Nancie was to go to one home and Tom to another. The couple, who always held hands when they went anywhere, could not bear this last unbearable injustice. They decided that no-one would separate them. No Govt, no Social Workers, no laws…

They were found dead this week in their bedroom, beside each other. Together. As they had always been. And now, always will be.

In the United Kingdom today the elderly have seen their life-long pension savings systematically attacked and ransacked by the Blair-Brown Labour Govt; they are denied privacy and dignity in hospital; they are abused, neglected and malnourished in so-called ‘care homes’.  And just when an elderly couple need each other the very most, society tears them apart.

The standard of care, and attitudes, towards the elderly population in the United Kingdom in 2008 is quite simply atrocious.

Tom and Nancie Hughes. Preferred to die together rather than live apart.
