Things have changed in the job hunting world since I first left college and started looking for my first job. Back then (and we are only talking 20 years here ) you more or less armed yourself with your qualifications from school/college/university plus a letter of introduction and presented these to your prospective employer.
Then came the CV and they became a standard requirement. When I re-entered the workforce after my kids started school the CV had replaced the reference and so I had to arm myself with one – and it had to be produced on a computer of course.
These days there are great online sites where you can advertise/promote yourself in order look for career openings, make new connections and generally reach a much wider opportunity field. It’s all straightforward and if you want to create a profile that other professionals can view, just like people such as Dan Neumeister have done, then really give it some consideration.
In many ways the internet has replaced the old employment agency…
