Planning our vacation – someone help me decide!

fortlauderdaleThe trouble with deciding on taking your vacation in the United States is the sheer range of choices you have for destinations to head for – it’s a nice dilemma to have I admit, but it is still a point of conjecture between us at the moment. Basically the places of interest  want to see are at opposite ends of the nation – the New England region and Florida – with a few more places in between such as Virginia and North Carolina. Florida, of course, for doing Disney World and, being a fan of The Waltons series I would love to visit Virginia.

Having been hotel owners ourselves for the past six years we don’t want to spend our entire vacation in hotel rooms because, as nice as they can be as a treat once in a while, they can restrict you space-wise when you have kids. In the past we have often booked a vacation home rental and saved ourselves some money by renting by the week, it really does work out cheaper in the long run and you have your own space to chill out in at the end of a long days activities. Should we finally decide on including Florida in our itinerary we will probably zoom in on a Fort Lauderdale vacation rental due to the city’s close proximity to all the attractions we wish to see.

Pictured above is a view of the beach from a Fort Lauderdale vacation rental so you can see what’s on offer in the way of beach-front villas there. I think it looks fantastic – having grown up on the stunning beaches of northern Sydney I am hard to impress when it comes to nice beaches but I give the above one ten out of ten.

  1. Go for Florida unless you can hit New England in the summer or fall. Florida can be quite obnoxious but NE is already COLD and the foliage is long gone!

    • I have the problem of wanting to see various places there – Arnold loved Florida but for the main attraction there for me would be Disney World. I have always been attracted to the New England region for the scenery and charm but I understand it is not a big region and you could see quite a lot of it in a short space of time. I can see us making several trips there over the next few years so that we see what we want to see at the right time of year.
