The cat in the bin: one crazy moment that made Mary Bale commit an act of animal cruelty.

Just what it was that made a so-called animal lover like Mary Bale grab a small cat from off the front wall of it’s own home and throw it into a nearby wheelie bin before closing the lid is still not known – but certainly this act of wanton cruelty has been captured for posterity on video and has horrified people around the world.

The owner of the little cat filmed the act with cctv set up outside his home designed to capture evidence of his car being continually damaged in the street. What he did not expect to see  when he viewed the film played back was the reason why his pet had disappeared for almost two days; she had been callously dumped inside his garbage bin by a passerby who had lulled the little animal into trusting her enough to let her stroke her. The cat had been purchased from a rescue shelter as a cruelty case and it had taken her new owner, Darryl Mann, a long time to gain her trust. This poor creature, a four year old tabby named Lola, was only saying ‘hello’ to Mary Bale as she passed by, in the way that friendly cats do, and was rewarded by being dumped into a bin. What is wrong with this woman…?

Due to the widespread reaction to this story Ms Bale is now living under police protection – that it has gone this far is unbelievable. This woman certainly has problems, personal issues, but she does not deserve to live under the threat of personal harm. The cat is safe – and we all know that Darryl Mann put nothing in his garbage bin for fifteen whole hours. I make several trips to mine in a day…

But what a very odd thing for Mary Bale to do…!

  1. Is this the first cat that this horror woman dumped? i dont think so.

    • Strange – apparently her father has been quite ill recently and her mother claims the whole family is ‘stressed’. I recall my dad being in hospital in a very bad way for ten days prior to his death, I was devastated but did not feel the urge to take it out on defenceless animals. Maybe she has a sick sense of humour and did it as some kind of weird prank assuming the home owner would put something in his bin within a short time and find the cat…but he didn’t, and he could have very well found his pet dead instead. I hope she doesn’t do any babysitting in her spare time…

  2. She’s an idiot, a complete loony, but I hope this all dies down and she learns from this without coming to any harm.

  3. Society is just fed up with people like her, cruel to kids, cruel to animals, we have had enough. She knew what she was doing and just did it like it was second nature, the more I see her on the clip the angrier I get about it. I hope she loses a lot of sleep over this. Serves her right.

  4. Wendy (the author of the article?),
just because YOU are leaving your house several times a day to put garbage in a special container, why does that mean other people would do the same? I don’t find it odd that he didn’t open his garbage container. Ha, we don’t even have one (not living in the UK). So, that remark was a bit odd of you, I thought.

Also I don’t agree with your sentiment that you think she should not be punished. While I don’t support any death threats, I seriously think she should be fired from her job and kept unimployed. And she should also pay a HEAVY fine (only a financial punishment hurts nowadays, be honest!).

The fact that this behaviour is not considered a crime in the UK is appalling to me. That cat could have been killed.

Oh, and of course it was the first time, right? Yeah, sure it was… Did you not see how she looked around left and right, carefully, if anybody was watching? She has done that before, I bet!

  5. what a cow – i hope they find her and give her a good shoeing for what she did. We blame all the youths for the problems but look where it all comes from. I hope all her neighbourhood cats shat on lawn for the rest of tine!

  6. If it was just a ‘moment of madness’ then she wouldn’t have done it in such a cold and calculating way.
I agree that I reckon she’s done it before. I’ve had family members ill and dying for months, suffered depression, post natal depression and we are financially worried sick. Do I go and have a go at an innocent? No I don’t.

The woman is mean, nasty and callous.

  7. you must be very proud of all those trips to the bin to have mentioned it. i pesonally only allow my bin to be one third full – then i empty it. i mean in 15 hours i would probably have emptied my bin 2 or 3 times.

but what a very odd thing to say..

    • It’s odd that you find it odd – focus on the cat, not the bin if you can manage it.

      • fair enough. as for mary bale, its terrible what she did but i think her life is completly and utterly ruined now. maybe it will make other people think twice (especialy kids) who might be cruel to animals.

  8. I simply cannot understand why a person would do this. Her statements as quoted in the interview are ridiculous. No, she doesn’t deserve to be threatened physical harm by people but she surely needs to be embarrassed beyond belief and it sounds like she isn’t. What is the world coming to? I shake my head in disgust.

  9. She deserves to live in fear as she does. Mindless cruelty and stupidity have NO place in civilized society. This woman is a disgrace and anyone defending her is a sub human degenerate.

  10. She doesn’t deserve death threats, but I do hope authorities investigate her and punish her. After watching the video, it seems clear she knew what she was doing, and there is a very real possibility the cat could have died. (What if the garbage truck had arrived? Or the cat had become dehydrated on a hot, August day?) My guess is she enjoys having power over weaker creatures, and indulges her mean streak when she thinks no one is watching. Now the world knows it. Let’s hope she is never put in charge of an elderly person or a child.

  11. ITS FRIGHTENING TO THINK WHAT SHES DONE TO OTHER ANIMALS
AND EVEN HER PETS AS A KID. SHE KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOING THOUGH ON A STINKING HOT DAY AND SHE HOPED THE POOR
DARLING WOULD BE CRUSHED. I HOPE SHE DOESNT SLEEP THE SCUM.
I AGREE WITH THE COMMENT ABOVE THAT ITD BE TERRIFYING TO HAVE HER BABYSIT KIDS TOO. SHE WOULD BE ONE OF THOSE ONES WHO HURT HELPLESS ANIMALS OR KIDS TO GAIN ATTENTION SHES TRULY PSYCHO.

  12. I bet it wasnt one random act either its a frightening world to think
these psychos are out there in the workplace and walking round the streets.

  13. Personal issues are no excuse for this. I love how other news articles are trying to let her off the hook by bringing up he sick father, like it is somehow relevant to her actions. fuck her.

  14. Looking at her demeanor in front of the reporters and her press statement it is clear she is only sorry she got caught, not for what she did. She says it was a moment of madness. She had 15 hrs to go back and undo that moment herself, but she didn’t.
How people treat animals is a direct reflection of how they can be expected to treat people.
If this person was in my life in any way I would be very concerned by this act of casual evil.
If I was her employer (at a bank, big surprise !) I would be trawling thru her files and very concerned about things that she may have done to workmates and clients.
Now we get to pay for her protection, I hope she gets billed for every penny.

    • She should have been forced to clean the mess out of that bin for a start – this woman simply has no conscience at all, what a cold fish she is…truly creepy.

  15. “This woman certainly has problems, personal issues, but she does not deserve to live under the threat of personal harm”

I disagree. She most certainly does deserve to live under the threat of personal harm. This was not a trivial thing, or a misjudgement. Rather it was a casual act of evil. It was a malicious and cruel act perpetrated by a woman with a sick soul. She looked around to see noone was looking, and then walked away quickly after her cold and sadistic misdeed.

She deserves everything she gets, and personally: I hope she gets everything she deserves. She is an evil cowardly sick creature who is capable of doing anything. I would expect that only the cowardly fear of punishment would prevent her from doing the same thing to a child. God rot her. If there is a hell, then the world will judge her fit to burn in it. And the sooner the better.

Oh, and just incase you are reading, Mary: When was the last time you got laid, you fat ugly old slapper?

    • “Oh, and just incase you are reading, Mary: When was the last time you got laid, you fat ugly old slapper?”

Nice question, John. It’s good to know some people aren’t cruel, sadistic, evil… The world needs more compassionate people like you!

(And in the mean time, go to a psychiatrist, John!)

      • I must say that this woman has certainly brought out the aggression in a lot of people – people from all over issuing death threats must realise that their actions are far worse than what this silly woman did. She should show some remorse though, telling the media ‘it was just a cat, what’s all the fuss about?’ shows how clueless she is. She needs to lay low for a while…

  16. I can see others are as outraged as I am. It is about time we stood up for those who are defencless like animals and children. I read her reply ….what a joke!! This woman is your everyday cat hater and I am guessing she has been exterminating cats for along time without being caught. Our pets are part of families. When attack a pet you are attacking a family member. What gives her the right to do this and get away with it. I am shocked that she was not charged with cruelity to an animals. This woman needs to be in jail and in treatment.

  17. A very calculated act, this woman is a closet nutcase.
