Not even Andrew Lloyd Webber can win Eurovision for the United Kingdom

jadeI honestly do not understand why the UK even bothers entering this ridiculous farce of a competition anymore. It is cheesy at best and downright corrupt at it’s very worst.

Nevertheless Great Britain has retained it’s courageous, if unrewarded, enthusiasm for Eurovision and this year will be represented by Jade Ewen (never heard of her…) singing a song written especially for this year’s effort by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

‘My Time’ is Lloyd Webber’s contribution but I reckon he just pulled this song out of his waste basket; it sounds like a song he composed for one of his shows at some earlier stage, thought it was one too many and ditched it. It certainly does not stand alone as a great song – how many times can the lyric ” it’s my time” be sung over…? you listen for yourself and count. I cannot be bothered.

Jade is predicting that this will catapult her into overnight superstardom but I doubt it; Eurovision was only ever meant to be about the song and not the singer. So with the event being hosted in Russia we know that the UK has not got a chance; all the ex-soviet bloc countries will applaud each other – this is the one time they actually do and Britannia will once again learn what the rest of Europe thinks of her.

Then again I could be completely wrong – the song is bad enough to be a great success, so expect the unexpected.
