A few weeks back we had Home Secretary Jacqui Smith claiming money for her husband’s tv porn habit, now we have something of an even grottier nature…
Works and Pensions Minister James Purnell was shacked up with his girlfriend in one of those ‘grace and favour’ flats that MP’s get as one of the perks of the job – among his expenses are that of a cleaner.
On vacating the flat it was discovered that Mr Purnell had indeed claimed the £1600 for a cleaner – but never bothered to actually employ one.
The property was left in a filthy condition; soaking carpets, ruined patio furniture covers, stained walls, blocked sinks…
These are people who are telling us how to live our lives right now, how to save our money and how to ‘tighten our belts’; maybe this man could use some lessons in basic housekeeping himself before he continues preaching to the taxpaying masses.
And I hope his ‘piece of fluff’ paid her own rent…
