I am enjoying Britain’s Got Talent every Saturday night and it is not just down to the fact that television viewing in the UK is so, well, crap, on a Saturday night. Unforgiveable when you consider that Saturday night tv was at it’s best when it was done by the Brit’s back in the 60′s and maybe 70′s…
BGT is just out and out entertaining; a mix of great talent, not so great and the downright deluded – with those in the latter giving us the biggest laughs. What worries me is the fine line between laughing with someone and laughing at them but so far those in the ‘deluded’ category appear to be well in on the joke and are happy to take the p***.
So far Susan Boyle has been the brilliant new find, and genuinely that as well, but tonight she just may have some rivalry in the form of Welshman Jamie Pugh. Jamie is 37 and knocks the judges sideways with his rendition of ‘Bring him Home’ from Les Miserables. Popular choice this musical this time round it seems – but the songs test the finest singers and if he is as good as the reports are saying he will give Susan a run for her money.
Apparently Jamie suffers horrendous stage fright; so do the best performers in the world Jamie, so you’re in good company :)
Update: This man is gem of a find – and I have never seen someone suffer stage fright so palpably. He sang with such emotion and longing and fully deserved the standing ovation.
Simon is right Jamie, believe in yourself.
Jamie says he is a pizza delivery driver…I think he has just delivered his last pizza
Amazing.
