Two years after the British child, Madeline McCann, disappeared from her parents’ holiday apartment on May 3rd 2007 no-one is any closer to knowing what has happened to the little girl.
It is as if she vanished into thin air leaving not even a wisp of hair or a smattering of DNA to suggest who took her – depending on whether you believe the McCanns or the Portuguese police forensic team…
I don’t think you need to be Sherlock Holmes to work it out that whoever took the child was only able to do so by having knowledge of Kate and Gerry’s exact movements and whereabouts that evening – by being aware of how long they took to check up on the children and how long it would be until they returned to the apartment.
Someone, some persons, who were able to monitor the McCanns at very close range.
Over a year ago the Portuguese police requested the McCanns and their friends, the Tapas Nine, return to Praia da Luz and take part in an official reconstruction of the night of May 3rd. They refused. Now Gerry McCann is in Praia da Luz participating in a filmed reconstruction for Channel Four almost two years after the event – this is being done in the hope it will jog peoples memories of that night.
I doubt it will. I would say that anyone there that night two years ago would have racked their brains in order to help find Madeline, just what use is going over everything two years later when memories and recollections may have dimmed in that time?
Locals in Praia da Luz have not welcomed Gerry back or applauded this film project. They blame the McCanns for lost earnings, lost jobs and basically alot of very bad publicity for their once very popular area. I feel sorry for the McCanns and even more sorry for poor Madeline, but I feel this reconstruction is being done too late.

Having watched the documentary/reconstruction this evening I am now feeling quite positive for the McCanns and for Madeline. Now that the investigation has been taken out of the bumbling and inept hands of the Portuguese police, the evidence that those Keystone Cops refused to divulge can now be brought out into the open and used to actually do something. It is unbelievable how much information was kept from the being reported to the public – with a very credible new suspect now being sought.
And one thing; wouldn’t it be nice if the British public could show the rest of the world that they support this couple instead of slagging them off and being totally miserable about anything to do with Madeline. It makes the Brit’s look very, very bad.
Fingers crossed that Madeline is found soon
