I was talking to my neighbour this afternoon and he was bemoaning the fact that his car insurance had only expired 24 hours previously when his wife had a bang with the car at the local shopping centre this morning. Not her fault though but the clown who caused the prang drove off without exchanging details so he is in a difficult spot.
It reminded me of the time I chanced it when my own car insurance was pending expiration and, being very short of funds, I had to choose between shelling out the money for renewal or getting a new radiator for the car. I didn’t know what to do as the car overheated as soon as I had driven over 5km’s from home and yet my Dad’s words about insurance and Sod’s Law came to mind. So I went for paying the insurance. Just as well…
I’d to drive into town to pay the policy and on the way back, with steam pouring from under the bonnet, I turned off the engine and free-wheeled down our street forgetting the power steering and brakes would be disabled. I didn’t get the turn into our drive negotiated fully and made a pretty job of the side of my neighbours van…
Yep, I was lucky that time but Sod is always waiting to apply his law should you forget to insure your car!
