We are all so sad to hear the news that Patrick Swayze is battling the virulent pancreatic cancer, it seems that so many these days are developing this particular cancer and Hollywood’s stars are not immune. Here are some who lost their battle with this cancer…

*Operatic singer Luciano Pavarotti succumbed to the illness recently.
*Actress Joan Crawford in 1977
*Comedian Jack Benny
*Jazz muso Count Basie
*Jazz muso Dizzy Gillespie
*Four members in the family of ex-US President Jimmy Carter (wow, that’s a lot)
*Composer Henry Mancini (Moon River, Pink Panther Theme)
*Actor Micheal Modine lost his Dad to this illness.
This is a cancer that is rarely found in the early stages and by the time it is diagnosed other organs in the body are usually affected. Let’s hope that Patrick Swayze is one of the 4% who survive the five years after diagnosis – in this case the prognosis can be good. He is only 55, he is healthy and has looked after his body well over the years. This is something that puts things in his favour.
We swooned over him in Dirty Dancing and he broke our hearts in Ghost; he’s been married to his high school sweetheart for over 25 years and he’s an all round great guy. Let’s cross our fingers and let him know we are all behind him in his fight to regain his health and here’s something from all his fans…
