I am not a good dental patient; even though dentists these days are wonderful I still spend the week leading up to the appointment in a cold sweat. Once I am in the chair I am fine – it is just the thought of it all…
I had some work done today, nothing major, but I needed the needle and prior to this I even requested some gas and air to help me relax. I have had the gas and air before and I have to say I felt a bit ripped off by today’s offering. Any woman who has had kids will tell you that gas and air should have a certain effect – that effect is down the the gas.
There was hardly any coming through my mask this morning – plenty of air but no mind numbing, smile-inducing gas. I know how I am supposed to feel – I am supposed to lie there with a stupid grin and a mouth full of cotton wool – possibly even winking at the dentist now and then – but nothing!
Has the credit crunch affected the dentists too…I know we all have to economise but there are some things you cannot scrimp on – I wanted to feel happily numb and I didn’t !

Hi, i had a similar experience last week, usually it takes my dentist a while to get me sedated and im sure its stronger than when i was in labour but last week i would guess it was turned right down because it wasnt working she even changed the nose mask incase it was leaking.
