This little guy has got to be the ugliest critter I have ever seen! Yuuuukk!! He is called a snakehead and he’s a type of fish that lives in the warm waters of south-east Asia and his purpose is to make life hell for all his fellow fishy swimmers – so what was he doing being hooked by an angler off the coast of England! You can even see him enlarged here if you dare…
Apparently this species is even deadlier than the piranha, and no wonder just looking at those gnashers in his mouth…I cannot see this scaly-swimmer ending up on the plates of diners anywhere. His presence in English waters really has the conservationists worried too – are there more…?…did he bring the wife and kids with him…?
Hope not – it would give a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘The fish are biting today!’

Or your purples, reds or oranges going by what science is doing to our vegetables these days. But don’t worry - if you think these pretty caulies are the result of some hideous genetic experiment by some mad scientists you could be forgiven. But they aren’t…they are the result of years of very careful and selective cultivation and are becoming a huge hit on the dinner tables around Europe. And they are said to be even more healthier for you than the boring original variety. I don’t know if kids anywhere will buy into this one…but you have to admit they do look rather pretty.
