There was a time when outdoor clothing was strictly worn by campers, trekkers and the like; these days people have discovered just how practical these types of clothes are for many purposes especially including travelling.

Just take a look at the guy on the left; he looks casual, comfortable and his clothes will wear well on his travels.  This line of clothing, 5.11, is all 100% cotton so that you will feel cool in summer and warm in winter.

They wash exceptionally well and will drip dry should you not have an iron or press handy on your trips. Check them out, I reckon the guys look fantastic in them!

Satin and silk sheets sure are sexy but so slippery!

Posted under Family Life, Female Topics, Shopping by Wendy on May 20th, 2008 10:06 am

When the purchase of our first home together went through I was on the other side of the world visiting family so my partner had to deal with pretty much all the finer details on his own.

This included selecting and buying furniture and many of the odds and ends which go into a brand new home. Considering it was his first experience of such he carried the task off well; it took countless midnight international phone calls to discuss colours, shading, fabrics, etc, to achieve the job though. Me being phoned after midnight and him making the call from somewhere in M&S or Dunnes.

When it came to the bedding I chose from an online catalogue and he went and bought the stuff and it was during one of these expeditions that he saw something in the store which seems to be every womans fantasy - satin sheets and silk bedding.  He couldn’t resist buying a set as a surprise for me and chose a very deep shade of red. Fast forward a few weeks and we are trying out the sheets (sleeping on them I mean).

I have to say they certainly provide for an interesting experience. One difficult thing is keeping the darn things tucked in and you really do slide around on them. Getting the quilt into the cover was a job in itself due to the slippery, shiny fabric and by next morning we decided that the egyptian cotton sheets would be more practical.

However, those satin sheets certainly do get used from time to time…

Annihilate angry acne

Posted under Commercial, Shopping by Wendy on May 13th, 2008 9:11 am

Acne would have to be one of nature’s most irritating curses. My own son suffered from the condition for about six years but due to effective treatment and making some changes to his diet he has now got lovely smooth clear skin. And fortunately no pock marks at all as I impressed on him never to squeeze or scratch.

It’s difficult though and it is surprising how many adults, particularly females, suffer from acne well into adulthood - women approaching the menopause can also find themselves falling victim to this condition even after having relatively good skin all their lives.

As I have said before, diet can play a huge role in controlling the flare-ups as well as lowering and maintaining your stress levels. When the causes are hormonal it requires some extra assistance and  opting for natural acne treatment is the best way to deal with things.

There are alot of formulas on the market right now and I have some advice regarding this; if it smells or has a perfume then avoid it like the plague. Chances are it will irritate your skin further when there is a fragrance added so it is best to avoid these even if they smell ‘nice’.
