The Irish, never ones to hold back on what they think or how they feel about things that really matter, have voted a loud and clear ‘NO’ to Europe’s Lisbon Treaty. And well done to them. They have taken the opportunity to tell Brussels in no uncertain terms how they feel about the future that the EU plans for not just Ireland but the rest of the EU member States as well.
The British people too wanted to have their chance to say ‘negative’ to the suffocating and destructive influence that being part of the EU has brought to their own nation only Gordon Brown reneged on his word to allow them the right to do so.
The Irish deserve our thanks. They have resisted the bullying tactics that Brussels have tried to use on them and have sent the EU administrators into turmoil. France, that bastion of ‘we do things OUR way’ are not happy yet the French themselves back in 2005 resoundingly rejected the draft of the same Treaty along with the Dutch. Tough Titties to the French who are now taking their turn to administrate the EU.
Let’s hope the British do get their referendum but it seems highly unlikely as McBroon & Co do not want the British people to have any say in their future as a nation at all…just look at what their Nu Labour has done to the United Kingdom over the past eleven years. This once proud strong and stoic nation has become the dumping ground of Europe due to the ‘borderless’ EU and it’s dictum that anyone and everyone from the poorest EU nations can arrive on a plane at Heathrow and expect to be afforded welfare, housing, ‘human rights’ and employment - however impractical and unworkable it is, and has proved to be.
I just sincerely hope that the British people have a long memory and use it at the ballot box at the next election. I hope they have the same balls that the Irish people have. Enjoy Number Ten while you can Mr Brown.

I think that pretty well sums up the rules of life in general, do you not think…? not though when you are one of those annoying people who want society in general to bow to you and your petty little demands…like the po-faced woman and her poor kid in the picture below…

This lady wants her son to be a full member of the British Cub Scouts only she does not want him to adhere to the rules to do so. This woman, supposedly a devout Roman Catholic (note the well placed crucifix around her neck), has a problem with her son swearing an oath of allegiance to the Queen which is an important and very touching part of the enlistment ceremony. She claims that RC’s (and I am one please note) are discriminated against in that they cannot sit on the Throne (who would want to?) and says her son should not have to swear an oath to support a monarchy which would not have her son as spouse to one of it’s heirs.
Is she for real or does she actually see her son as a future Pope…?
For one thing lady it was the British Govt back in 1701, not the Monarchy, who placed the ban on RC’s sitting on the throne of England. Secondly, if you are so anti-Queen then why do you live in the UK at all…? thirdly, you damn well knew the rules and requirements of joining the British Scouting movement beforehand - so why did you push your kid into this in the first place?
Now, as an Australian I have to say that even though I would never lay down my life for Sweaty-Betty I will say that I still very much like the woman and have a lot of respect for her. My two eldest boys were members of the Australian Scouts for four years and they happily took the Oath in support of ol’ Queenie - even though we are RC. Heck, QE2 even tolerates members of her own family marrying us RC’s these days!…
Mrs McVeigh my boys also have no chance in hell of ever being the PM of Britain (who would want to in their right mind?) but even I know that the Queen has nothing to do with who does what in the House of Commons. So what gives apart from the sniff of a nice ‘damages’ payout or the opportunity to present yourself to the world as a complete whinger…?
If you don’t like the rules then don’t join the club. Simple. Stop putting silly adult logic(?) into your kid’s mouth and explain to little Junior that sometimes we cannot have everything we want in life. Sometime’s we have to conform, even follow rules and regulations we don’t like. Just look at that poor kid…he looks so embarrassed thanks to his silly, deluded mother.
And one last thing Tracy Anne…stop calling yourself a Catholic, you are giving us all a bad name.

Donald trump recently took time out from a business trip in Scotland to visit his mother’s ancestral home on the Isle of Lewis.
The Scottish Isles are a windy place at the best of times but it looks as though the elements put on a special show for The Trump…personally I think someone up there has a bit of a sense of humour - look at his hair !!
One word of advice Trumpy; when going in search of one’s roots make sure you keep hold of the few that you already have…
Especially in places with gale warnings !
Not long ago I gave my Kiss for Life Award to actor Paul Newman; not just for services to the movie industry and various charities but for services to that rarest thing in Hollywood - the long and happy marriage. But now we all need to say a prayer for Paul as he is battling lung cancer and is not too well these days. Despite the fact he is 84 he still cuts it as a great looking man but has had to retire due to his failing memory. Of course wife Joanne Woodward is right there supporting her man - as she always has done. Lets hope this golden couple get to celebrate many more anniversaries to come.
