However there is something just as bad as Islamic fundamentalists and that is bible-bashing evangelists from the United States, those loopers are in a class all of their own. These evangelists make a nice living out of condemning everyone to hell who does not agree with them – actually hell sounds pretty good if those types are what’s to be found in heaven! their credibility though is rather flakey given that those most successful evangelists – demi-gods in their own narrow worlds – such as Jim Swaggart and Jim and Tammy-Faye Bakker were exposed as prostitute-using, drug-addicted hypocrites. They had as much to do with following the Lord and his preachings as using a wrench to thread a needle, full of their own glory with pockets full of your money. Now one crazed evangelist in the US, the Rev Terry Jones, has designated this 9th September as ‘Burn a Koran Day’ in protest against the mosque being built near Ground Zero and to mark the anniversary of 9/11. This fool, if he goes ahead with his threat, will no doubt endanger the lives of innocent westerners living and working in places like Afghanistan and Iraq, it shouldn’t, but we all know how fanatical muslims react to this sort of thing – they respond with violence, murder and terrorism. Already threats are being issued against westerners if any Korans are torched, and it really bugs me how religion makes people so darn unreasonable and provocative.

These people would kill over a book, and yet a 48 year old muslim mother sits imprisoned in an Iranian jail waiting to be stoned to death – this is why I have no time for religion or the people who follow them, they love a theory more than anything else and logic plays no part in their thinking.

But sordid for who…? a millionaire footballer with ( who had…) a lovely wife and beautiful baby boy, all the money he could ever want, fame – a wife who has carved out a career for herself in television and fashion through her being Wayne Rooney’s partner, not to mention the millions she has made for herself out of that. Coleen Rooney might be an independent woman with her own money but only because of who her boyfriend was…nevertheless she can afford to support herself for life even if she does not take any money or assets from him. So much financial and material wealth surrounding this couple and yet low morals have all but destroyed it for them.

Not to forget the hooker, Jennifer Thompson, who happily serviced Coleen Rooney’s husband over a time when Coleen’s pregnancy was front page news most days. She knew who he was and she knew she was dealing in dirt with a very high profile married man – so as a hooker she was just doing her job…? of course she was, that’s what hookers do – they sell sex to men with no strings attached, no questions asked. These females are only in it for the money it’s not their business if the jerk is married, a father or whatever, more often they will assume that he has come to her because his wife is uncooperative in the bedroom. She deals out a service with no thought as to the repercussions it will have when he goes home, when the wife/girlfriend finds out – even worse, if his kids find out. Prostitutes work completely devoid of a conscience, I guess they have no choice but to, however it is sad that married men like Wayne Rooney, who have so much to lose, are no better.

But I do feel sorry for her right now; despite the wealth, fame and multitude of envious female fans she has accumulated there is one thing she does not have – a decent man for a husband, a good role model for her baby son. Coleen has become yet another footballer’s wife who has been publicly humiliated by her randy lummox of a husband. Wayne Rooney has been exposed as just another over-paid creep who cannot keep his fly zipped – but in his case he chooses prostitutes and not just the desperate young trollops who trawl the nightclubs looking to bag a famous footballer.

Rooney has been exposed as the type of low-life who chooses the time during his wife’s pregnancy to go on the prowl; that he cared nothing about his high profile and being seen publicly several times with a certain hooker, while wife Coleen was being deceived in the worst way possible, just proves that men like Wayne Rooney still think they can have their cake and eat it. Only one wishes they would choke on it! You also get fed up too with the comments, from men of course, that ‘men only go to prostitutes when they cannot get certain services from their wives‘. Rubbish. Why does the conjugal side of marriage have to stop being a loving and sensuous exchange between a couple and be replaced by the need - his need – to engage in more odious ‘activities’ that do nothing other than degrade the wife…?

This is a young couple, relatively newly married with a new baby and this should be the beginning of the best times of their lives. It is not as if Coleen has let herself go, rather she is the attractive half of the couple while Shrek looks like…well, it is self explanatory that one. Men like Wayne Rooney – why do they bother with a wife at all when they can afford to change their bed partners like they change their socks…?

Poor Coleen – take him to the cleaners girl and don’t give it a second thought.

Of course this now calls for the name of the new baby to have a Cornish connection and it would be a lovely tribute to the nurses who coped so well in what was an emergency caesarian. Cornwall is a beautiful and unique part of the UK, a piece of earth almost separate to everything around it according to the proud locals who are intent on keeping their ancient Cornish language alive – so a Cornish name would be just the right thing in this case.

Cornish is a dialect of Celtic and was spoken as a community language up until the late 18th century with the last native Cornish speaker dying in the 1800’s. The language is a recognised minority language of the United Kingdom and is now being revived thanks to a process begun by Henry Jenner in the early 20th century.

I will predict now a wave of baby girls being given Cornish names over the next year or so – ah well, you cannot beat the old names for character and beauty I always say.

One event in our past though which still makes me see red is the story of Lindy Chamberlain and how she was rail-roaded over the disappearance of her nine week old baby Azaria at a camp site near Ayers Rock (above) back in August 1980. We all now have to concede that the baby was taken by a wild dog – a dingo – and that the baby’s matinee jacket was placed at the site, where it was found six years after Lindy was sent to prison, by an individual. I always suspected that person was a member of the Northern Territory Police, the instigators of the vile campaign which led to Lindy spending six years of her life behind bars. Six years that she lost from being a mother to her young children and a wife to her husband. That tiny article of clothing was the lynch pin and it’s supposed ‘absence’ or non-existence – was what nailed the case for the prosecution. How strange that it suddenly turned up in a dusty spot beside the Rock some six years later…it’s re-appearance secured Lindy’s release. The matinee jacket DID exist, just as she had said. Someone in authority, who had wanted to do Lindy Chamberlain a lot of harm, held it back and then revealed it when the right time came. Now jury files kept secret for almost 30 years have been revealed to show just how badly Lindy Chamberlain was treated and how the bigoted NT police fought hard to see her blamed for the disappearance and death of her baby.

Looking back it does make me ashamed of the way my fellow Australian’s behaved over that whole case, at how the Chamberlain family were treated in the most appalling manner. The only other story which comes close is that of the little girl from Kincumber in NSW, Eve Van Grafhorst, whose family was literally run out of town when it was revealed she was attending the local pre-school while carrying the AIDS virus. That was in 1985 and, like Lindy and her family, the Van Grafhorsts too were spat at in the street, verbally abused and hounded by ignorant individuals. In the end they left Australia for New Zealand and found a new life and compassion, and where Eve eventually died at the age of eleven.

Whether or not you have changed your mind about how you thought about Lindy Chamberlain 30 years ago, or even if you are as sure of her innocence today as back then, you certainly have to condemn the Australian justice system for the way in which the young mother was treated whilst in custody because it was truly shameful. The ordeal she endured would now raise howls of protest if it was applied to prisoners today – even female asylum seekers entering Australia illegally have a certain charter of ‘rights’ which ensures they are treated with dignity particularly if pregnant.

In the latter stages of her pregnancy during her court case Lindy Chamberlain was subjected to hours of interrogation in a court room, made to sit on wooden benches which must have been extremely uncomfortable for her, she endured being closeted in confined accommodation in sweltering temperatures with no concessions made for her advanced condition – or the health of her baby. The worst indignity – after having been convicted and sent to prison for a crime she did not commit – was being forced to give birth to her baby girl while handcuffed to a female prison guard. It would not be allowed to happen now and it should not have been allowed to happen back then – I don’t think Lindy Chamberlain can ever get the apology she truly deserves.
