Out of sight out of mind: the abuse and deaths of Maria Colwell, Jasmine Beckford, Tyra Henry, Heidi Koseda, Kimberley Carlile, Karl McGoldrick, Liam Johnson…

The list just goes on and on. The litany of child abuse and murders that we are so sickened by these is nothing new. We are so appalled by the fact that so many children have died at the hands of their carers since Victoria Climbie in 2000 that we must not forget that there is a long trail of sorrow leading back years and years before little Victoria died in such abject pain and misery. Since Victoria there have been of course Peter Connelly, Tiffany Wright, Ainlee Labonte, John Gray in 2003 and recently Bobby Louch – all these to name but a mere few. I have been criticised for writing harshly about Sharon Shoesmith in the past whose famous words were “You can’t stop people are who determined to kill their children…”

Yes you can Ms Shoesmith – you can bloody well take the kids off them.

Enough of her though because she is just another failed bureaucrat in an endless long line of failed bureaucrats who ‘missed signs’ – ‘made mistakes’ – ‘made errors of judgement’ – ‘failed to act’. Failed to act! that is what is killing these kids, the failure to actually do anything – people at the top drawing the huge salaries handing forms to fill out and boxes to tick to exhausted social workers who do not have the powers, or the clout, to pick up a beaten, bruised toddler and walk out of the house with him/her followed by a couple of burly policemen. Ever since young Dennis O’Neill died from horrendous abuse back in 1945 our child welfare authorities have been ‘getting it wrong’. Time and time and time again. Can anyone show me the figures proving what GOOD they have done – how many children HAVE been saved…? probably not but I sure as eggs can produce enough sickening evidence of the failures. Just recently the UK was in a panic over swine flu and mourned the deaths of a handful of children who succumbed to the virus…what about the epidemic of child killings though – and how nothing has changed at all since these forgotten little souls became mere statistics, a few lines in a newspaper article and then nothing:

Jasmine Beckford2/12/1979 – 5/7/1984 (pictured below)

Tyra Henry – 8/11/1982 – 29/8/1984

Heidi Koseda – 16/2/80 – ?/11/84  (exact date of death unknown as Heidi’s body was found decomposing in a cupboard in her mother’s house some 2 months after she died from starvation and abuse. Pictured below)

Kimberley Carlile – 3/11/1981 – 8/6/1986

Karl McGoldrick – 1/6/1984 – 4/12/1986

Liam Johnson – 1/8/1984 – 25/12/1987

Sukina – 19/9/1983 – 6/12/1988

Daniel Vergauwen – 23/3/1984 – 8/9/1989 : Part Two

Since the act child abuse was redefined and reclassified in the 1940′s, as a result of the death of Dennis O’Neill, successive governments have spent billions holding inquiries into murdered children, drafting legislation to protect them, employing thousands of pen pushers to oversee their welfare…and yet still parents have the upper hand and still they continue to neglect, abuse and kill their children in the most horrible ways. You may not remember those children listed above, or even have heard of them – now you have. The media’s coverage of child deaths in the 1980′s and 1990′s was not as extensive as it is today, today there is an urgent need to keep highlighting this dreadful problem in human society. Nothing has changed unfortunately; not the governments, the policies, the social services and sadly not the scum who should never become parents in the first place.

Here’s an interesting article: Stepfathers Who Kill

Facebook teen first person charged for trying to reveal identity of James Bulger killer Robert Thompson

He tried, thought he had the correct details…but he was wrong. Now nineteen year old Wayne Dale of the Isle of Man has been charged with making false claims on the social networking website Facebook. He claimed to know the new identity of James Bulger’s killer Robert Thompson and claimed he was working at B&Q on the Isle of Man. He was wrong, and has been the first Briton charged with threatening to reveal the new identity of one of James Bulger’s murderers.

This guy was stupid to do what he did. He had no real proof and he also had ulterior motives in pointing the finger at the individual he chose as his scapegoat. One thing is certain though; it wont be long before a blogger/journalist from overseas – and well clear of British jurisdiction – obtains the correct information and reveals the new identities of Robert Thompson and Jon Venables online. You can be certain that it WILL happen at some stage – it is simply just a matter of time. Personally, I hope someone does.

One question begs to be answered: are new and changed identities safe in this new age of ‘information’ where anyone and anything can be traced and published online within seconds? time will tell…

Depending onyour blogs theme it DOES matter where you host it.

blogI have said this before here and I will say it again as it has been a very important aspect of my work here; where you host your blog can make a huge difference depending on what you write about. Don’t just think ‘company’ either – I have found that web site hosting matters as much, if not more, in regards to the location of that company as much as what company that you choose. This is a purely personal opinion, but I feel that hosting your blog/site in the US works best if your writings are along the controversial line – like mine can be here from time to time. I have found that a hosting company based State-side gives you certain protection freedom-of-expression-wise as bloggers are now generally required to follow the same rules as journalists when writing about sensitive cases; laws that will restrict you writing certain things in the UK will not apply to your blog if it is hosted in the US.

Then you might be a business person and have, like we did, a site to promote say – a hotel. We found that when we shifted the business hosting side of the things to a US based company the number of US hits on the site shot through the roof – so to speak – and we started receiving a massive increase in bookings from American guests. When you have a hotel in France this really matter and those results spoke for themselves; we suggested this method to many other accommodation owners who were not getting the hits to their sites – some did the switch and benefited while some took some convincing to even consider it. You cannot convert everyone though…what made us shake our heads were those few who stated it did not matter where you hosted your site. Several of them went out of business within a short time.

What you do need to do though is take a look at your target audience – if you want ecommerce hosting for example you will be targetting a very broad base of client and will need expert support for credit card transactions and purchases. Web Hosting Geeks are not as geeky as they sound and in fact helped us decide where to transfer our sites over to in one hit when we needed to get things done in a hurry. Of course you need to comparison shop – but just remember that the location of your host is just as important as all those benefits they offer you.
