It was through no fluke that the names of Tracey Connolly, Stephen Barker and Jason Barker-Owen appeared so easily on websites and forums right around the world despite there being a media ban placed on their publication. In fact, the speed with which their names appeared online was the  most surprising thing – so horrified were not only members of the British public but individuals all over the world that this story quickly attracted so much public interest everywhere.

What the courts did not take into consideration was that the names of all three, including Peter’s, had been published in full immediately after their arrests took place, even their address was given as Penshurst Road, North London (pictured) and these details appeared even on the BBC website. It was no job at all to identify them – however try as the courts might have done those media restrictions could not be enforced outside the United Kingdom. Their identities were ordered to be held back from publication until 11.59pm on the 10th August 2009, and it was on this date that we bloggers could officially name and shame these monsters. I myself took the decision to defy the ban, and did, and almost got hauled into court for doing so. I had my own reasons for doing this and I would do it again. It has come to light however that there was great opposition to the media ban being lifted and this came from the very source of the entire disgraceful episode…

Haringey Council, whose child services department failed to remove little Peter from that house of hell and save his life, tried to block the names of the three abusers/killers from being published at all. They employed a team of lawyers to fight this move, wanting complete anonymity for all three until – now get this – 2026. Haringey Council wanted their names suppressed for the next seventeen years out of ‘concern’ for Connolly’s baby girl, who was fathered by Barker, claiming that she should be 18 and able to cope with the publicity surrounding her mother before the names are revealed. What do these people term as ‘concern’? – when the police entered that house after the baby died they did not find one single article of his clothing that was not stained with his blood – and Haringey Council are ‘concerned’ about his his sister’s future…?

How hypocritical and self-serving can you get? that this arrogant, useless, criminally negligent bunch of jobsworths should show concern for any sibling of little Peter at all when they repeatedly ignored the overwhelming evidence of the horrifying situation he was living in. They did nothing to save his life, they did nothing to remove any of those children from that filthy squat – the only action they ever took was in trying to cover their backsides.
