Australian troops in Afghanistan: have the debate and then pull them out.

In a sight that is sadly becoming increasingly common the bodies of two more Diggers arrived back on Australian soil last week. Both young men, both married, both daddies and one expecting his second child in a matter of just weeks. Two more widows, several more children left fatherless, another generation of Australian children growing up without the dads who were killed fighting wars in foreign countries. This is where I get steamed up about asylum  seekers queuing up to break into Australia; the natives of countries like Iraq and Afghanistan are making a beeline for our shores and expect to be let in while our own men are over there fighting their wars on their soil for them. Why are we bothering to create some democracy for these people when they cannot be bothered to stick around in their own country and work on it…?

I say send them back and bring our men home!

It’s a pointless war and these latest deaths are avoidable in that Australia does not need to be there. We don’t owe Afghanistan anything, neither do the Swiss – who remain detached from all foreign conflicts – neither do the Irish, French, the Spanish – all nations who use oil as much as we do and yet are not prepared to see their young men and women killed fighting a lot of savages in a country that is still medieval in most of it’s customs and attitudes. Let Australian’s have the debate they were promised and then end our involvement in this sickening evil carnage. The men who started all this – Bush, Blair and Brown – are all living in happy affluent retirement while young men are still being killed eight years later – we should not tolerate this any longer.

  1. With no disrespect to the soldiers who died fighting for their country and I have respect for all soldier of any country.. I want to know to ask you a question, since you seem to be the most normal of the posters here. The others are a bunch of uncouth idiots who talk from their asses. A loss of life is a loss of life. The parents and families suffer. According to the Christian Science Monitor “Police say 1,447 Indians were victims of reported crime in Victoria, where Melbourne is situated, in the year ending July 2008. The Federation of Indian Students of Australia (FISA) believes the true figure is several times higher.” I want to know why you would want to call the people of Afghanistan as “savages” whereas you justify the racists in your country. Nitin Garg was stabbed to death when he was coming back from a late-night job. He was an accounting major who was sent to your country by his parents after spending an arm and leg to educate him and for him to follow his heart. Imagine the news a parent receives, a late night call that their son is dead for no fault of his!!! I can’t imagine how I would receive it. I don’t care where that bastard is, I would hunt that person down to the ends of this earth if I have to. Nitin was not a thug or someone who came to “steal” your jobs. Here is another one “A Sri Lankan student in Sydney had acid thrown in his face and was in an induced coma after a home invasion” or how about this “There’s a report in today’s The Press, detailed on Stuff.co.nz telling the shocking story of how two Asian students were subjected to aggression and an unprovoked attack by a gang of skinheads in Christchurch”. This is just inhuman and wrong!!!! If the laws allow for jobs to students so be it. Respect it. If the laws don’t allow for students to work, then make sure that people don’t hire students. But why kill students for it???? Your universities come to different countries and host this show where the prospective students pay an expensive fee just to get a few brochures. Students are then charged hefty fees for attending your universities much more than what citizens have to pay. They are told that they can work on work-permits, are assured of their safety and a rosy picture is projected to them .. “oh think of all these advantages of attending our universities” carp. It is this deceit and duplicity that makes my blood boil. At the very least be truthful!!! If you want to have a debate, then have a proper one rather than just posting your responses and then disabling the comments!!

    • I disabled the comments because I am bored with the topic, nobody says anything new and you are no different. The diatribe you have written here – considering where you are located – is bigoted, bordering on the unhinged and frankly uninformed. I am not looking for a debate, whatever gave you that idea!
Nothing bores me more than the old chestnut ‘you are a racist’ and frankly that is a phrase for people with little to say or no real opinion and the inability to debate without resorting to accusations of this and that. I am not interested in being lectured by uninformed people such as yourself with no idea at all about life in my country, I will also not get involved in tit-for-tat nonsense.I disable comments when topics have run their course, don’t be paranoid – if you said something interesting I might bother…but you don’t. Your comment is off topic for this article here.
You need to get out of your hut and see the rest of the world if you think Australia is dangerous!

  2. Statistics show that crime rates in Sydney have risen since the influx of migrants from the middle east, the majority of tourist-bashings have been committed by Lebanese gangs (who are a big problem) and Tongan gangs. The answer is simple – cut back on the migrants coming from third world countries who live as they do in their country of origin and that is by being criminals. Wendy I know this is off topic but I cannot read the crap written by the above person who has no idea at all, India take care of the mess in your own backyard first you moron before you complain about others. I agree with the article, make the afghan and iraqi men stay in their own country and clean it up, it is not a job for our troops, say NO to asylum seekers!

  3. I’m not publishing any more rubbish about indians or whoever being ‘attacked’ in Australia especially as they are mostly ‘attacked’ from within their own community anyway or by other non-Australian ethnic groups. The drawbacks of multi-culturalism I’m afraid.
I agree absolutely about the asylum seeker issue though.
