I assumed you were pretty much free to travel anywhere you wanted these days given that the Iron Curtain has come down long since – and so long as you were couragous and adventurous enough to want to see places that you would otherwise only see on the television news.
I had no idea though that Americans were not allowed to travel to Cuba and actually face perjury charges if they do; also if they happen to fall within the very narrow category of US citizens who CAN travel to Cuba they are not allowed to spend any money there – so they have to buy their Cuban cigars online if they want them badly enough. The travel restrictions require US citizens to have a license to go to Cuba – honestly, unless you really had to go there why would you go to all that bother…?
I understand also that these restrictions apply to US citizens who want to travel to Vietnam…apparently they cannot go there either. Weird…
