I revealed here in March that 13 year old Alfie Patten did not father the baby girl born to his 15 year old girlfriend Chantelle Stedman. It comes as no surprise to anyone who looks at this little boy (and that is exactly what he is) but sadly Alfie himself seemed convinced that he had fathered a child at the age of only 12. Now the news is out and frontpage headlines and the UK cannot lay claim to the youngest male ever to father a child. But no worries because the real ‘daddy’ is a boy of 14. If ever there was a sad indictment of the depth to which family life and morality has fallen here then this whole sordid story is it.
The really tragic aspect here is there was an entire group of young males – all underage – who could have fathered that child, such was Chantelle’s way of socialising. DNA swabs were taken from the six likely candidates, all of whom were laying claim to paternity as if they were vying for a prize in some competition. At first there was bemusement amongst the tribal community where Chantelle and her own dysfunctional family lived courtesy of the taxpayer – now that the ‘winner’ has been chosen the young male, Tyler Barker now 15, is running scared with the full realisation of what he has done. Yes young man, now it is time to grow up and it sure feels scary eh?
Chantelle and her family have fled their council estate home where she has been harrassed and called names by neighbours - sounds very like a lot of pots calling the underaged kettle black considering those neighbours backgrounds. Little Alfie was reported to be ‘very distressed’ at the news – one imagines he threw an adolescent tantrum and slammed his bedroom door. Well, that’s how they cope with bad news at that age. And as for Tyler, the biological father, he sobbed that “ his life ‘has been ruined “.
Make no bones about it these kids are not all that innocent, for innocence is one of the victims of living on a council estate as part of the usual transitional family setup these days. There is usually a mother, there is nearly always a series of ‘father’s’ who come and go. No wonder these boys learn that ‘planting one’s seed’ is a game and that girls are part and parcel of it. They know a baby brings no consequences other than a welfare cheque and a house for life.
And what of the parents of these kids - where is the outrage? I only know that had any boy taken a poke at me at that age my father would have gotten hold of him and done a job on him any vet would have been proud of. But not from the parents of these kids; in fact it is impossible to distinguish who the parents are as so many different surnames exist within one household.
Do I feel sorry for any of them?…no, I only feel the deepest pity for that little baby girl, Maisie. Her start in life is being spent hiding out on a different sink estate from other morons who have it in for her mother – stuck in a house with two feckless generations caring for her. But at least one silly teenage girl has learned a lesson that no amount of classroom sex education could ever teach her – treat your body like an amusement park and everyone will expect a ride.
