Some souvenirs from a closed chapter.

We have been sorting through some boxes we brought over from France last August as I had found several that we had not yet unpacked – they mostly contained various bits and pieces from the administrative side of our life there as hotel owners, some of them dating back to before we left here originally to begin our new life in France.

Some of the stuff we will toss as old faxes, blunt pencils, empty pens and old menus wont be any good to us here but we were happy to discover a batch of the contractor business cards we designed and made ourselves to promote our new business. We used to walk all around the car park of Perpignan airport placing them under the wipes of cars, leaving them in the airports tourism section and of course gave them to those guests checking out.

They remind me of a very unique phase in our lives, one that I honestly would not like to do all over again, but am glad that I did when we had the chance.

How far back does your oldest dress go…?

whattowearIt doesn’t have to be a dress either – what about a whole outfit, pair of trousers, skirt, blouse, jacket…? I would bet that you have at least one item of clothing in your wardrobe that is more than five years old and you never wear it.

They say the average woman has a minimum of £200 worth of unworn clothes in her closet and Fashion Catalogues from various outlets as well – I say my partners mother can beat that. She is 83 and has complete outfits from the 1950′s hanging in her closet, even though she never wears them and cannot even fit into them anymore. But she refuses to clear them out. One particular ensemble last saw the light of day on a ferry crossing to the Isle of Man in…1948! and we have the photo to prove it. She has never worn it since. I’d say a vintage clothes collector would have a field day in her room.

The British Govt will let Paul and Rachel Chandler die because they are white, middle-aged and middle class. In short – they don’t matter.

The main problems for the British couple, Paul and Rachel Chandler, who are being held hostage by Somalian pirates is that they are white, middle-aged and middle class citizens. Therefore  they are worth nothing and the British Govt will do next to nothing to secure their release from the capture of the savages who kidnapped them and are starving them to death.

Rachel-Chandler-002

Contrary to the claims of those too ignorant to know what they are talking about, Mr and Mrs Chandler were not sailing in Somalian territory when their boat was ambushed – they were some 1000 miles off the coast of Somalia and in international waters when they were captured. These beasts do not operate within their own territory anyway, they do not lie in wait for some poor fool to wander in to their path – these animals seek out victims indiscriminately.

I find it all so hypocritical of Gordon Brown; that he is financing a war against terrorism and spending billions in doing so yet will not deploy a small number of personnel to seek out these poor people. And let’s not pretend we don’t know where they are, a person picking their nose can be seen from space these days! Somalian criminals, refugees and scum asylum-seekers who land in the UK are handed their Human Rights on a plate, not deported and supported in style in taxpayer funded accommodation – while the Chandlers are afforded no human rights at all.

Looking at the latest pictures of Mrs Chandler leads me to believe that unless action is taken she and her husband will not survive for very much longer. What is there to lose then by deploying some Mercenaries to go and find them? I am sure the Chandlers would prefer to die being rescued, by some attempt at least, than by being starved to death…or worse. And when it is over, drop a bomb on a stretch of east Somalia and wipe out these wretched bastards altogether.
