I don’t know about you but I am not really a fan of the modern way of sending things like Xmas and other forms of greeting cards – those of the ‘email’ kind – and I got my fair share of them last Xmas. I guess the advantage here is that they get there straight away and cost nothing by way of postage or footwork but there is something still nice about getting a card through the post box, to me it shows that the sender cares and bothered to take the time to send it to you. I mean how often do you get a ‘spam’ birthday card in the mail…?
The same thing goes for weddings. My son is now engaged (yaayy!) and he and his fiancee are looking to send out their wedding invites the old fashioned way – I advised them on this one – so they are having some fun looking at the designs that they can choose from, they have similar tastes (fortunately…) and as they are not having a huge wedding the printing costs wont be too considerable. Choosing the invitations was considered the first BIG task when organising a wedding and I know of a couple who almost split up before they even sent theirs!
One question though: does the mother-of-the-groom get one…?
