Another hole in the roof, still no builder and it’s raining cats and dogs

handywomanI am wondering if it would be quicker to just don a pair of overalls, climb a ladder and do the whole sodding job myself! we are still waiting to see a builder follow through with turning up to give a quote to actually doing the job. We have already got the insurance quote for fixing the part of the kitchen ceiling that the insurance is liable for but as for the rest of the project…zilch.

Right now we have a situation where we have a kitchen that is barely functionable; no cooker due to the water dripping down through the ceiling from the bathroom above – that’s a massive hole resulting from that – and in another part of the kitchen yet one more hole that has recently appeared.

It is ridiculous. Last week I had two seperate builders out and they both promised to have their written quotes with us by last Friday…and we are still waiting. I suspect I will have to follow through with my threat of fixing it all myself – I am sure I could have it done in far quicker time.

What is it with builders these days!

Pointless people: who are they, what do they do and WHY are they famous?

You read about them, you see their pictures in all the glossies and newspapers…but you often ask yourself – what the hell do they do…? what are they famous FOR??

Well I certainly and I have made a list of some of these very people who seem to be everywhere, with everyone and frankly…WHY!

alexachungAlexa Chung (left): I had to list this woman first because I cannot figure her out at all. Strange name, strange looking,  and the most awkward  posture I have ever seen – she always looks like she is busting to have a wee. Someone teach this person the art of leg-placement please!

The Geldof Sisters: You have to place these two – Peaches and Pixie (they sound like cabbage patch dolls…) – together because they appear to work as a double act. They don’t seem to work, get invited to everything, look totally miserable, annoy a lot of people and – oh yes – their father is ‘Saint Bob’ Geldof. Fame by association yes – but I wonder what will happen when they age and their perma-sad faces show some wear and tear…the media should be ashamed of it’s collective self for convincing these two that they mean anything to the population…

Any female housemate from Big Brother: Enough said – can anybody DO something about Michelle Bass…?

Kelly Osborne: Sorry, but I still cannot work her out. I like Ozzy for sure, but after all her stints in rehab…what else does she DO!

And…

Nicola McLean: Your guess is as good as mine. Googles herself obsessively (well, we all need a hobby – HI! ), has landed herself a footballer husband so is set for life financially – must have been the two silicone footballs inserted in her chest that he found attractive. Likes to stir Katie Price and emulate alter-ego Jordan but ain’t in the league.Wow – three lines written about her…is this a record for Nicol…Nicole…Nicoli…NICOLA! (phew, I knew I’d get it eventually)

Pointless celebrities, pointless people, pointless…like this article. Feel free to add some more…

Mother of Ashleigh Hall who was killed by Facebook ‘friend’ needs to heed her own advice

The warning issued by Andrea Hall to parents about heeding the dangers of Facebook needs to ask herself a question; why did she continue to use the same facility her daughter’s killer used to trick her into meeting him at her fateful destination…?

17 year old Ashleigh Hall befriended a ’16 year old boy’ on Facebook and like most teens she did not share that information with her mother and also did not tell her that she was going to meet this ‘friend’ in a secluded location. That ‘friend’ turned out to be a 32 year old registered sex offender – a man who was a known criminal. Ashleigh’s body was found bound and gagged in a ditch beside a quiet road. Her mother wisely has spoken out about the dangers this site poses but then herself uses it to post a tribute to her daughter.

Why…? why use this increasingly sinister facility to commemorate her daughter when it was through this site that her daughter met her tragic death…? If it was me I would want nothing more to do with it, I would be screaming my head off about how dangerous these ‘social networking sites’ are becoming and how easy it is for children like Ashleigh to not only speak to and interact with strangers but conceal these activities from their parents.

Yes, teens need privacy but at what cost? these sites need to dispense with the privacy settings which allow paedophiles to gather and kids to drift into their evil grasp. Have everything out and open for all to see – surely if you are not doing anything untoward you should not mind what people read or see. Yes I have used Facebook, merely as a short fix means to keep in contact with family abroad – I don’t accept ‘friend requests’ from unknown people  and I do not use Facebook to chat or converse. Facebook has become a very dark cupboard in which people from a parents worse nightmare are lurking.
