Ever been frustrated while trying to hire a car…?

touristWe have for sure and in particular when we had the hotel a good number of our guests often complained about the tedious process they had to go through. I wonder if those people who design the websites for many of these car rental companies ever bother to negotiate them themselves – as CLIENTS rather than as technicians…

We sometimes took matters into our own hands and did some research so that we could recommend a good Car Hire site to our guests and this always earned us appreciation. If you follow that link you will find that BestCarHire.co.uk is a very easy site to get around and throws up a very detailed list of car hire options at competitive tariffs.

It even passed a little test I set for it and that was does it filter out certain public holidays in France when it is impossible to actually physically collect the car in some areas due to pickup depots not being staffed…? and yes it did – the 15th of August – which is the national public holiday in France  and where in some cities the car that the site allowed you to reserve will not be available for collection as the office will be shut. Been there and done that so bear that in mind…

Something old, something blue…

adbridalcoupleI don’t know about you but I am not one for the modern way of sending things like Xmas and other forms of greeting cards – those of the ‘email’ kind. E-cards I guess get there straight away and cost nothing by way of postage orfootwork but there is something still nice about getting a car through the post box – to me it shows that the sender cares and bothered to take the time to send it to you.

The same goes for wedding invitations. My son is now engaged and he and his fiancee are looking to send out their invites the old fashioned way – I advised them on this one – so they are having some fun looking at the designs that they can choose from, they have similar tastes (fortunately…) and as they are not having a huge wedding the printing costs wont be too considerable.

I think it is still the way to go when you have to send out a card for whatever reason; even business people still like to have some cards on them to pass around to clients and you cannot do that with an email. There’s a site – 123print.com - which specialises in print cards and you have a huge variety of designs and formats to look at – you design them yourself too and you know that personal touch is a very important thing!
