Is there anyone who was a kid or teenager in Australia in the sixties and seventies who didn’t have a Coca-Cola yoyo? I was in primary school in the seventies and remember well the ‘yoyo craze’ and nagging Mum to buy me one. Depending on how generous your parents were there were basically three types; the white with the red writing (for beginners), the red with the white writing (for those who could use them) and the most coveted one of all…the black yoyo.
Not many kids had one of those, if you did you were acknowledged as an expert as they weighed a bit heavier than the white and red one’s but if you had one you got a lot of respect in the playground. Large numbers of adults held onto them as reminders of their childhood, and I’ll bet still play with them now and again.
These days the yoyo’s are very diverse but still look great; you don’t see the old Coca-Cola yoyo’s anymore in the shops but you do see the kids with the nifty looking tom kuhn ones. Did you know that the yoyo in its modern format was invented in America…? though Australia was perhaps the most enthusiastic supporter of the craze. When I was a kid everyone had one and everyone wanted one.

I’m always excited when someone I know is expecting a new baby but that excitement is causing me a severe drain on my purse just lately…three friends are all expecting and around the same time. Must’ve been a cold winter here back in December…
The site was Baby Bedding Palace and I was very happy to see that their sets are made from 100% cotton – I have a child with eczema and know how important it is to have only natural fibres near the baby’s skin. She is having a boy and this gorgeous set comes in green and brown – a colour scheme I normally would not consider, makes a change from the usual blue dosen’t it…? these also come with the matching curtains and accessories as you can see – I’m loving that colour scheme the more I look at it!
And what people had to say…
