The trustworthy face of Vanessa George is the reason I do not trust the childcare industry

vanessageorgePictured left is the face that hundreds of parents and grandparents trusted everyday – and what is even more frightening is that their children and grandchildren trusted it too.

Everyday at Little Ted’s Nursery in Plymouth for almost three years parents and grandparents placed the hands of their precious children into those of Vanessa George with the complete assurance and confidence that she was looking after them – she was, but not in the way anyone of those parents could ever have expected.

Childcare worker Vanessa George has been arrested and charged with abusing children in her care and creating pornographic images of them at that nursery in numbers so far unaccounted for – it could be dozens, hundreds…if the the thousands of photographic images are anything to go by. Police report the images seized are extremely disturbing.

This woman has violated children and their families; it never feels ‘right’ to hand your precious child over to a complete stranger and you want to believe with all your being that they would lay down their own life for your child’s…just as you would yourself. This is the risk all parents take when they use childcare nurseries, most fears are unfounded but in this case parents and their children were deceived by the friendly, smiling face of Vanessa George. Personally I never used childcare facilities because I never trusted anyone else enough to care for my own children; nobody cares for my child better than I do and that has always been my answer to anyone who chose to criticise me for having the temerity to stay at home and raise my children myself.

That is one of the most infuriating aspects about this situation and what Vanessa George has done to these children and their families; she abused the trust that childcare industry employees work so hard to earn from parents. When she was driven away from court this morning I hope the screams and shouts from furious people reached her as she sat in the back of that prison van, I hope she felt real fear and in some way that her safety was jeopardised and violated. Much more than a devil she was a monster in disguise.
