Susan Boyle: is ‘the dream’ starting to unravel…?

susanboyleangryMore to the point, is Susan herself starting to unravel…?

Those close to the ‘unkissed’ Susan claim that her two recent public rages were down to the increasing pressure on her. Susan, in front of a roomful of people at her London hotel, swore at the tv and gestured rudely at it when she was part of a crowd of 150 people watching the recent semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent.

When Piers Morgan lavishly praised 12 year old singer, Shaheen, she shouted “F*** off!” at the tv, rudely gestured and then stormed off to her room.

It is well known that Susan has a strong crush on judge Piers Morgan and her unattractive reaction to his praising a rival contestant left witnesses stunned. Yesterday after yet another incident at the hotel saw Susan spouting  four-letter words at a policeman people are now starting to ask if all the pressure is getting to the woman?

I would say it most certainly would be, and if so I feel very sorry for her.

This is a woman who has led a rather sheltered life in a small village - little education and by her own admission ‘learning difficulties’ stemming from what was a traumatic birth 48 years ago. Not much is actually known about her other than she has ‘never been kissed’ and sings in a church choir. What is known though is she has become a world-wide phenomenon, the most viewed person on YouTube and, on a more slightly sinister note, she has a strong crush on Piers Morgan which is coming across as increasingly obsessive. Hence her bad tempered response to his telling Shaheen that he was the best singer yet in the semi-finals.

Up until recently it was un-PC to criticise ‘SuBo’ in any way – do so and you had a ton of bricks rain down on you. But this is changing; fellow contestants in the show are reporting her extreme ‘moodiness’ (she is Scottish after all…) and increasing bizarre behaviour. Members of the public are now seeing a side to Susan that none of us believed existed just a week ago – she was a breath of fresh air, a naive and sweet ingenue who was the epitome of the unfulfilled dream come true. But this ingenue swears like a trooper and has a fuse shorter than a firecracker…

The reality is that a simple soul – an unsophisticated and childlike woman blessed with an incredible voice - was plucked from her safe, secure little corner of obscurity and dropped right into the middle of the world spotlight. She has neither the guile nor the steely constitution to deal with the pressure of this sudden and intense intrusion into her life. The little home in Blackburn has protected and cushioned Susan from the harsher realities of  life of which she had a taste in her school days; what a shame that the one blessing she has, her voice,  could prove to be a curse.

We all know how fickle the media and public can be – her rise to fame has been swift, her fall from it could be even more so.

Tracey Connolly, Barker and Owen in line for longer sentences

baronessscotlandIn a move that will be greeted by everyone as a step towards real justice, The Attorney General, Baroness Scotland, is considering presenting the case to the Court of Appeal if she agrees that the sentences are too lenient.

Widespread condemnation has followed the indeterminate sentences handed down last week by Judge Stephen Kramer (pronounced ‘Krar-mer). The main problem with the sentences being ‘indeterminate’ is that each of them will be released should they be assessed as being little to no threat outside of prison.

What I would like to point out is that these three acted within the privacy of their home and carried out the vilest of crimes on the child of the woman. As such they are not a danger to the public – the danger lies if any of them, particularly HER, decided to have anymore children. It is the possible future children of these three monsters who need to be not so much protected, but stopped from being born at all. These three MUST NOT be allowed to breed EVER again.

How appalling to think that once again Tracey Connolly will be assessed for suitability by a board of ‘experts’ – the last time that happened it signed a death warrant for her little son.

How Sanctimonious of YOU Mr Mendelle…!

Mr Paul Mendelle QC has the unenviable position in society of being the man who fought the good fight to get evil Tracey Connolly out of paying for her vile crime. I accept that everyone has the right to a fair trial – but on the same note every child has a right to a safe and secure life!

I just want to quote this man with words he offered at her trial which were designed to gain sympathy for a female who, as a ‘human being’, simply defies description…

She has been put in solitary because of the sanctimonious attitude of those who rob, steal, rape and kill, yet somehow regard themselves as morally superior to an inadequate mother who allowed herself to fall in love with the wrong man”

Okay, here’s some words which you may find enlightening Mr Mendelle…

As a QC you must surely be aware of the ‘prisoners code’ – the lowest of the low are those who abuse and kill children. It always has been and always will be. Sure, those women in Holloway are not perfect (but I fail to see how they can be ‘rapists’…) and I would not want many of them living next door to me. But there would be mothers in that prison and to women who have lost just about everything – self confidence, direction, self respect – the only shred of moral fibre that they would still retain and hold dear is that of their maternal feelings. How arrogant to accuse them of  persecuting her for ‘falling in love with the wrong man’ – it is what that ‘wrong man’ did to her son that is unforgivable and so abhorrent to all of us. Who cares what he would ever have done to her so long as it was just to HER?

There is no criminal more repugnant that the one who abuses and kills a child – that is not sanctimonious, that dear sir is human nature.

Update: The Baroness destroys hopes for justice.

If Tony Curtis were a chef he’d be out of a job

tonycurtisYou have to admit that when he was young Tony Curtis was one of the most handsome men to grace Hollywood Boulevard, these days though a lifetime of fast living, even faster women and the odd drug addiction has played havoc with his looks now that he is old.

If a chef served up the same old food night after night in his restaurant the patrons would get fed up and go elsewhere. The same should probably be said for veteran celebrities who trot out the same old anecdotes…

He was being interviewed on BBC Ulster just recently and as I was driving at the time I tuned in, but I knew what was coming. Yep, he swore – dropped the f*** word like confetti and used the usual derogatory names for the women had…well, ‘had’. Boring Tony, boring.

For the zillionth time he told the story of the time he referred to Marilyn Monroe as ‘hitler’ – he tells that story every single time, it must be his signature. Well, he is not going to be talking about life insurance quotes is he…?

He told the same old anecdotes that he tells in every interview, the only difference being the details become more ‘embellished’ with time. I blame the interviewers though; they only ever ask the same old questions so we listeners get the same old answers.  In all it was a yawn – but hearing the BBC presenter constantly apologising for the bad language was a giggle.
