Baby Peter on Panorama: Social Workers must start the revolution for change.

peterconnOne thing we have learned from tonight’s Panorama broadcast regarding baby Peter is that Haringey Council are very good at protection – not child protection – but protection of the truth. Protection of facts. Protection of jobs, pensions, backsides…

Those things are vital to keep safe and under wraps because they matter to the people who benefit from them. It is amazing how councils like Haringey can close ranks and slam the doors shut in the face of the invading hordes of justice seekers when so much is at stake.

But what a pity such a well oiled machine cannot muster it’s ranks to protect the life of even one child. That’s a different matter of course. When it came to securing safety and refuge for little Peter that model of self-preservation fell apart like a house of cards. Professional individuals who hold degrees and diploma’s in formfilling, theories and therapies are unable to distinguish a bruised baby and a lying mother from a child who is messy with a piece of chocolate and a mother who just ‘forgot’ to wipe his face…

Baby Peter died because no-one bothered. As simple as that. These people went to more trouble in covering their errors than they did to ensure the baby was even wearing a clean set of clothes each visit, or was even being fed at night.

What do you say about a profession where it’s failures can mean life of death? what can you say about a profession where it’s workers – the only people who can make a difference to a vulnerable child - resign in blubbering self pity when the going gets rough instead of having the backbone to band together and demand change?

So social workers at Surrey were so exhausted and stressed at their case workloads they considered industrial action…well? this is probably the first real hint that the system can be changed by the people who are the system and yet nothing is done.

The stressed and overworked social workers have the power to implement change, no amount of political bleating by pen pushers will do this. The people who knock on the doors of the Baby Peter’s out there are the one’s who need to take the initiative. They are the last line of defence for these children – they have to start the revolution.

This is one dead horse that is definitely worth flogging.

Solution focused brief therapy.

Baby Peter’s killer: now the Human Rights plea’s begin…

If nothing else makes you sick then this will.

Barrister’s representing the scum responsible for the torture and death of baby Peter, and the rapes of his sister, are now going for the big guns to stop their vile client being punished for his crimes…the Human Rights Act!

Yep, I was wondering when it would happen.

His lawyer Bernard Richmond QC is arguing that internet and public outrage hindered his client’s right to a fair trial – while having full knowledge of what this thug has done of course.

Well excuse us Mr Richmond – excuse this free society for having the right to be informed and disgusted by the way your clients behaved towards a defenceless child.

This QC will now use Article Six of the Human Rights Convention to try and get this thug off for his sickening crimes…

But what about Article 3 - regarding torture and inhuman treatment!

What a damn shame that nobody is fighting for the human rights of Peter and his sister; once again, only the criminals profit from this vile piece of legislation. Let’s pray that sanity prevails and this disgusting appeal is thrown out with the garbage.

Update:

Mother of baby Peter, Tracey Connolly, and Stephen Barker will be sentenced for their crimes 21/22nd May. Central Criminal Court.

Baby Peter: the whole truth on Panorama tonight

babyp1Tonight’s episode of Panorama on the BBC will be very interesting; just recently I discovered that authorities attempted to block the broadcast of this show and the BBC in fact was involved in court proceedings over it’s production.

But the trial for the death of little Peter and the sexual abuse of his sister have now ended and we count the days until sentencing on May 21 – 22.

Tonight’s viewing will ( excuse the vernacular) make you pretty f****** mad. Baby P: The Whole Truth? will reveal how one vital clue was missed; the mother, ‘TC’  revealed on police videotape that she had a new man living in her home just four months before Peter died. That man was the man who was responsible for torturing and killing Peter. Social services always claimed they knew nothing about ‘SB’ living with the mother and that it would have made a difference if they had.

Well, I don’t believe they had no idea because family members and friends were telling them he WAS there! she dropped the clue and nothing was done. No wonder she laughed at their pathetic efforts. This is a woman clearly intent on doing nothing to protect her child.

Here’s a BBC clip to recap the way Baby Peter’s story unfolded – and it will raise your blood pressure so be warned…

What really drives it all home though is watching the video where two ambulance men describe ‘The moment we found Baby P’.

Just think back to those G20 riots in London the other week; people can scream, fight and protest over the weather and ‘capitalism’ – but no-one see’s fit to make a squeak about children who are dying horrific deaths through govt negligence. In my opinion, a bunch of seals or whales seem to matter more than these defenceless children.
