Bit of a silly title there I do agree – but I wanted a catchy tag for this article. A couple of weeks back I wrote about a great evening of music to celebrate Australia Day on the 26th of January and it was being organised and held in Munich and by resident baritone there Aussie Martin Cooke.
Martin and I both grew up in Manly in almost parallel dimensions going by the number of coincidences we have discovered regarding our old haunts – and the people who haunted them as well…
Now he’s resident in Munich with the Opera and threw the place open to some Aussie culture this past Australia Day. I would love to have been there and he says that the evening went brilliantly with the Australian Embassy even coming to the party and pitching in with the contribution of a selection of Aussie wines. Fantastic and generous guys!
Congratulations to Martin and Rosemarie for such an inspired programme of music and culture – both Aussie and German – for an evening which deserves to be a regular on the calendar.
Marty, maybe next time you could wear a Sea Eagles jersey for a real piece of Manly…?
Well done !
