Inauguration Day 2009 – a new era in American life

I will be watching the Inaug tomorrow – I will be taking time out from my last minute packing to watch Barack Obama create history.

I have to say that the publicity surrounding his being the first coloured man to be President of the United States seems to be overshadowing something more important about this new President.

Whatever you think about him, this has the makings of something special. To me George W represented the last of the old guard of American politics – Obama has that extra something about him. He is young, he seems completely on the level and he is taking on the American people at a time when that nation needs leadership that the people can believe in.

I just hope he does not let them down.

Can YOU turn your life around?

I have just been reading one of the most inspirational stories I have ever seen. A man in his twenties, weighing 45 stone and given just months to live, has managed to shed all that excess weight and is now a fitness instructor.

David Smith was effectively eating himself to death until he met the best motivation of all – his mortality. You can buy all the best diet pills there are on the market but unless you change your inner self nothing will work.

David spent two years turning his life around, and underwent several operations to remove excess skin, but he has now changed his life forever. He was so inspired by his personal trainer he decided to aim to become one himself – and he has.

Even better, he has met his very first girlfriend. What a nice story eh…?

Three days and counting…

Until we leave France that is. I am so looking forward to regaining the freedom we left behind when we bought this hotel – if you want an easy life DON’T buy one!

The kids have been asking for a pet once we arrive back in Belfast and we have settled on a cat as a dog would not fit into our domestic arrangements just yet. So, once we have settled back in – a few months I’d say – we will be off to buy a puddy tat.

I have had several cats as pets and it seems they are not anymore expensive to keep than before – cat supplies are relatively inexpensive once you have done the usual business at the vets.

I love Burmese cats so we will be looking for a reputable breeder.
