Getting an entire section of UK society off benefits and back to work

Leader of the Tory Party, David Cameron, has revealed his plans for getting welfare recipients off their bums and into the workforce. Any plan to achieve this has to be greeted with applause but there will always be some scepticism.

I would like to see him start with the single mums. Now to be fair – not all single mums are in the same category as Karen Matthews and her ilk. Many have found themselves single though circumstance and as a result gotten caught in a vicious cycle; can’t afford childcare so can’t afford to go to work.

But most do want to work – that’s a fact. I would like to see an initiative similar to that which has worked well in Australia whereby those people who have an idea for a small business can apply for a grant to help them get their business off the ground.

Now this can apply to anything reasonable; a small business franchise, a home-based business, internet-based business – there are options out there for women on their own with children – and ideas. All they need is a helping hand to start them on their way.

I am sure there is an untapped source in the community which is only hindered by lack of finance; come on David – give ‘em a go and see how it works!

Society will only benefit.

Suri Cruise – the world has had enough!

Has there ever been a more over-exposed toddler in the world? the kid is even being declared a ‘fashion icon’ !

Now don’t get me wrong – she’s a beautiful little girl and the image of her Mummy - but what strikes me as strange is how vastly different is Tom Cruise’s attitude to this child as opposed to his two adopted kids at that young age.

How many pictures are there of Conor and ‘Bella at the age of two…? just try googling images of either child as babies and all you get are photos of Suri.

Tom and Nicole, back then, were hyper about concealing their two children from the paps and the media – only in recent years are we starting to see what they look like (and ‘Bella ain’t the girliest-looking of teenage girls I have to admit…)

They took them through airports via all the back doors with rugs over the kids heads – while Suri’s little ‘mug’ is all over the front pages! even Nicole is now uncovering her five month old baby girl, Sunday Rose, more often these days in front of photographers.

So why were such lengths taken by Cruise and Kidman to keep Conor and ‘Bella from view while their new (biological) children are front and centre stage…ALL the time!

Some clause perhaps in the original ‘purchase contract’ maybe…?

Whatever Cruise’s concerns were for Conor and ‘Bella’s privacy back then, he certainly does not hold the same for Suri.

Interesting.
