The diet industry ‘hard sell’

I wonder if people bother to consult their doctor anymore when they are looking to lose weight. Just go online these days and see how many websites there are where diet pills are readily available to purchase for anyone with a credit card.

And the names of some of them are really quite staggering – take this drug, Ephedrasil hardcore, for instance. The thing is they are not cheap and some of the testimonials – whether in the postive or negative – don’t go a long way towards reassuring the buyer of their safety.

But they are easy to get – and this, I suspect, is what appeals to people.

Lawyers fight tooth and nail for Tracey Connolly’s ‘human rights’!

It actually beggars belief. A woman who denied her own child the most basic of human rights – the right to love and protection – is being considered for lifelong anonymity and 24 hour police protection at the request of her lawyers. And they are seeking to use human rights legislation to achieve it.

Can you believe it !

Rightfully complaints are already being raised by MP’s to oppose this outrage. This woman, for a start, should never ever be released from prison. She should die there as should her male accomplices.

Her lawyers – paid for by the taxpayer of course – are seeking to use Article 2 of the European Convention of Human Rights:

Article 2 -

  1. Everyone’s right to life shall be protected by law. No one shall be deprived of his life intentionally save in the execution of a sentence of a court following his conviction of a crime for which this penalty is provided by law.
  2. Deprivation of life shall not be regarded as inflicted in contravention of this article when it results from the use of force which is no more than absolutely necessary:
    • (a) in defence of any person from unlawful violence;
    • (b) in order to effect a lawful arrest or to prevent escape of a person lawfully detained;
    • (c) in action lawfully taken for the purpose of quelling a riot or insurrection.

So here, obviously and clearly, this ‘human rights’ legislation works for and only criminals – like Tracey Connolly.

But take a look at Article 3:

No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

No one !! particularly innocent babies and children. And little Peter Connolly’s human rights regarding Article 3 were violated in the most horrendous manner and by his own mother.

His rights as stated in Article 8 were also violated appallingly…

Everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life…

Where were this childs right to a ‘family life’ respected and protected…?

They were not thanks to Haringey Council.

Giving this most evil of females a whole new identity – as was done with the killers of toddler James Bulger, Maxine Carr and child killer Mary Bell – will cost the taxpayers millions of pounds over the course of her miserable life. And what will it achieve…?

The lawyers want her to have the chance to eventually live a life free from any harrassment, free from danger – they want her to have a second chance one day.

 Tracey C never sought to extend these basic protections to her baby son. So why should she enjoy them…?

Too much ‘reality’ kills a Reality TV show – just ask John Sergeant.

Some people take their dancing too seriously – and their reality TV even more so. One person you could not accuse of taking their dancing too seriously though is John Sergeant.

John quickly became the favourite – the underdog – in Strictly Come Dancing this time round with the public continually voting for him to return to dance each week.

Now John is no Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly, and he will readily admit this himself. But he was a tryer, he had a go, and he was entertainingly amateurish. This is why the public loved his efforts each week. He is not dashing, suave or handsome – but he is endearing in the way your granddad is. This is what appealed to the voting public.

Each week John danced a little better than the previous and yet withstood with dignity and humor the constant insults from the resident judging panel. Remember these dancers are celebrities, non-dancing celebrities at at that, and the judges are there to point out their shortcomings on the dance floor in the most humorous way possible.

It’s a SHOW for gods sake !!

But the judges were becoming more savage with John each week and the public continued to vote him back. The problem is John has now pulled out of the show fearing the public would vote him to ultimately win the series. He was feeling pressured by the growing criticism of his dancing efforts and probably embarrassed by his repeated success with the audience. He obviously feels he is doing his competitors a favour by doing the fair thing and resigning.

What a shame – if those are his reasons…

The professional ballroom dancing industry itself is an extremely bitchy and cut throat game. A TV show featuring clumsy, inept and sometimes capable celebrities presenting themselves as swish ballroom dancers – all in the name of fun – is not supposed to be all that serious.

It is not supposed to be ‘strictly’ ballroom - now it seems it is. The fun element has gone.
