I’m taking a break for a bit from the angst that has inhabited my posts of late…only for a short while though. One must maintain the rage at all costs…
Anyway, there’s talk of weddings in my family right now. My nephew and his fiancee have June 2009 planned for their nuptials and we have planned to fly out to Australia for the big event. I, secretly, would have like them to have done it the church-way but young couples these days tend to go for a more different and personalised experience.
And you have to be glad that they are getting married at all given the falling numbers of weddings in recent times. It’s the expense of course and this is why Ash and Lisa have postponed things three times already. I think it’s a shame – they aren’t after a big-do but when you count in venue, drinks and food just by themselves you are looking at several thousand before you even buy the dress!
I spoke to Ash the other day and told him to just elope – lot’s of people use to do it and they still do. I think eloping is kind of cool – rebellious even. I mean, it’s something that really is just for them, they don’t need to go into debt or spend their life savings to date just to put on a party for everyone else.
I know a girl who did just that six years ago; she booked a hotel in las vegas and away they went. They took four friends with them and had the time of their lives – and the family were elated for them when they returned. I don’t see it as deceitful at all – your wedding day should be with you in mind and if anyone disagrees with that then tell ‘em to shove it.

Here is the first picture released of little baby Peter – the little boy who would never grow up. Isn’t he just so beautiful, isn’t he adorable?
