President-elect Obama needs a hypo-allergenic dog; which one should he get?

I watched Obama’s first press conference last night – I like the man. When he referred to himself as a ‘mutt’, that’s when he really had me hooked. There’s no pretence about this guy, no airs and graces – he’s real, he’s honest and he’s got credibility to burn.

His style of delivery though has me fascinated, just watch him next time…he looks down at his notes then turns to the right and speaks – then he looks down at his notes and then speaks to the left. Down, right, down left and so on. He never looks to the front of him…just something which I find interesting.

Now, Obama needs a puppy dawg for his two little girls. A ‘hypo-allegenic’ canine as his daughter is allergic. I can suggest two from the top of my head…

* Poodle – they don’t have hair they have a woolly coat which makes them an ideal breed for those with animal hair allergies. They are extremely bright and loyal, but on the downside, they tend to bond with just one member of the family. They can be very overprotective and the one’s I have known tend to be snappy with kids.

* Samoyed – I had two of these beautiful dogs during my childhood. They are of the spitz breed and have a coat not unlike a sheep. They moult (shed) their undercoat during the summer and the undercoat comes away in tufts like cotton wool. They are a gentle, kind breed of dog and I adore them. They are hard to train obedience-wise being of the spitz breed. They need constant brushing and grooming to keep their luxurious white coat in good order. But I reckon they make a great family pet.

Oh, by the way, our two Sammies were called Susie and Sam.

Anyone have any other suggestions…?
