Is credit becoming as hard to get as cash?

The United Kingdom has seen it’s fair share of economic hardships in the past but I wonder if the current situation rates as the worst ever? you’ve got people facing negative equity from vastly over-valued homes resulting from the housing boom, banks drastically cutting their mortgage lending and even more you have credit card providers slashing the credit limits on the cards of people who have been long term and reliable repayers.

As for ready cash…anyone remember what that is…? we have all become so reliant on credit that it is not so much the lack of a cash flow which makes things so hard, but the credit card companies pulling rug out from under account holders which is causing the popular rush on solutions such as payday loans. And it’s no wonder; one day you have a credit card with a decent and manageable limit of say, £5000 – you’re thinking ‘Ok, that’s enough to get us through till Xmas’, next thing you have a letter from the bank informing you they have slashed that limit from £5000 down to £1500 and you are pressing the panic buttons.

When you consider that these payday loans don’t carry an interest charge (should you pay the loan off before payday) it is logical that folk are going for these rather than feeding more money to the bank by way of doing cash advances on their already over-stretched credit cards.

Still feel it’s OK to drink and drive…?

Just ask Amanda Peak how she feels about that question today. Due to the fact that Plymouth footballer Luke McCormick felt it was very much OK to drive a car when fully tanked himself her two little boys, Arron 10 and Ben 8, are now both dead. Her husband Phillip is in hospital with a broken neck and spinal injuries. This is a family destroyed by one man’s arrogance and sheer bloody stupidity.

McCormick was returning from a wedding when he collided with the car carrying Phillip Peak and his two little boys home from a family fun day out; the children we killed outright. Their mother Amanda had to break the news to her husband in hospital that their children were dead – how the hell does anyone get over something like this…?

You have no choice but to get really bloody angry at the idiots who do this to innocent people; this no-brainer for a man has destroyed a family forever simply because he drank too much then drove a car. And what about those people who watched him get into that car and drive away from the reception knowing he had been drinking…? yep, they are also responsible for what has happened to this family.

What makes people like Luke McCormick think they are above the law; what makes people like him so arrogant that they think they can cheat fate; what makes people like him have so little respect for other people’s lives?

Let’s hope he gets the appropriate prison sentence; one day in prison for every day that Arron and Ben Peak are dead. I think that’s more than fair…don’t you ?

Dad’s shout message from the rooftop…of politician

When you have a message to get across and politicians refuse to listen what do you do…? climb onto the roof of their home and stage a protest of course!

These two guys, members of the organisation Dads 4 Justice did just that recently; they climbed onto the rooftop of the MP Harriet Harman’s own house and raised their banner…”A father is for life, not just conception”.

Dad’s in the United Kingdom get a pretty raw deal in the family courts when it comes to custodial arrangements for their children with these two guys in the photo prime examples of the anger and discontent felt by many men. Currently the workings of the family court system in the UK are kept strictly confidential but there is obviously a need to make the system more open to public scrutiny.

While I believe that there are cases where children are better off with their mother after a relationship breakdown - especially where violence on behalf of the man has been the case – there are many men, good Dads, who have very few rights with regards to their children and are treated as nothing more than ‘walking wallet’s’ who are expected to pay up, shut up and are subject to the whims of their bitter female ex-partners.

Give Dad’s more rights; let’s see Dad’s getting the same consideration in custody cases as women. And let’s see the law get tough with women who use their kids as a way of getting ‘even with Dad’.
