My son the movie star!

James brought a note home from nursery school this week with yet another request for contributions toward the weekend school fundraiser – this time a cake stall. I have it on good authority that my cakes are well received at the school since I took a cake to the class for James birthday in April. This time I am baking two cakes; an orange cake and a banana cake with lime frosting. Most of the other Mums seem to stick to cookie baking and contributing those instead and, well, you can always spot the cakes which have been ‘bought’ – one wonders if the art of cake baking is being lost in these modern times with many Mums so busy working outside of the home.

James’ film wins a prize !

I mentioned a while back that James’ class had produced their own short film to present to the parents for their end of term party. It was really good and I had to hand it to the teacher for his imagination and…patience…in directing the kids through it.

Well, their film was entered in a film festival in Strasbourg where schools from all over Europe entered their own film efforts and guess what ? James’ class film won first prize !! It is called The King and the Magic Lamp and we are all tickled pink about it ! the kids were fantastic in the film and all credit to the teachers who worked on it. Teachers are so often criticised these days but spend a day in their shoes and see how much work they do.
