Summer’s here – time for the kids to find a hobby!

With Summer upon us, it’s time to be looking for outdoor activities and even the most hardened techies have toys that they can play with outdoors these days.

As well as the likes of binoculars (surprisingly popular with some kids) you can even put the skids (quite literally sometimes!) on people by sporting your very own Radar Guns which are pretty handy for parents who’d like either to slow down the speed merchants in their area or simply to gather evidence that it’s time speed control measures were put in place.

Much as true astronomers would laugh at us, it’s also the best time of year to get your kids into astronomy. Sure the nights are shorter but they’re warmer too and you need to be pretty “into” astronomy to be sitting outside in the depths of Winter.

Discovered Friends Reunited yet ?

I thought I would start a page with just the barest minimum of personal details to see what would happen and in just over a year I have heard from about half a dozen of my old school mates back in Australia. Having looked at some of the profiles on the site I was quite surprised to see how much detail others have added regarding themselves; not sure if that is such a good thing.

If you add data for all of the questions you could easily attract unwanted attention – especially since there are facilities for everything from every address you have ever lived at to where you have worked, played, gone to school – surely going into so much detail about yourself can lead to trouble ?

Even though it is just over twenty years since I left school it seems a lifetime away and happily most of my old mates are leading happy lives; sadly three have since died. Just as sad are the number whose parents have since died – I remember many of the parents of my old friends from our school days – the Dads who lent a hand during sports days and the Mums who worked the school canteen and assisted with the annual school concerts…when you hear about them passing away it really drives home the passage of time.

Gripe of the week…

I am going to vent my spleen now about something which really annoys me; those emails you get which say ” Please do not reply to this email as it will not be read by a human…”

So who the hell sent it ???

If I cannot reply to it I won’t read it. Hit the delete button ! or as Malin at Infektia would do…‘flush, flush, flush’.

‘Your Space’ for you and your pet

Us humans have our social networking sites where we meet and  make new friends – well – what about one for our four legged pals and those people who love them ? It makes perfect sense; animal lovers everywhere now have their own social site where they can get together with other likeminded folk and share ideas and stories about anything to do with owning and loving a pet.

Such a place can also provide a great support network as well; our pets have their ups and downs, bouts of ill health and problems just as we people do so what better way than to have access to friends who can advise and support you and your pet through life’s little situations.

There’s also product reviews, services, videos, news and events announcements to provide you with plenty of information as to what’s happening in and around your area. Get on over and join up now !
