Russian writer Olga Freer has penned a book after her experiences as a young woman living in the UK and in it she does not have a lot of complimentary things to say about British women. Basically it has to do with their idea of style and behaviour. To be quite honest she certainly has hit the mark!
If you look at European women in general; Spanish, French and Italian women in particular you have to agree that they have a well developed sense of style – they know how to dress according to their age and shape. But take a look at the average British female, especially those on the shady side of 40. These women think that sexy is a multi-layered midriff squeezed into a pair of low rise jeans two sizes too small and a top that reveals way too much of something that should be well hidden.
And why do fair skinned anglo-saxon females think that applying several layers of fake tan looks natural – especially on those with red hair and freckles…? British women spend far too much time trying to out-do their teenage daughters in the youth stakes and it comes across very badly. There comes a time when short hems are a no-no; there comes a time when a tight ponytail does not flatter a face; a bare decolletage is fine on a 16 year old in the summer – not on a 45 year old with sun damaged skin though; bare midriffs look cute on those under 25 and only when they are trim - not when they have stretch marks and spill over the top of one’s skirt/shorts or jeans.
Face bronzers?…on pale skin you do not get a healthy glow – you look simply jaundiced, and if you have wrinkles, you look even worse. And don’t even get me started on those pregnant women who wear bare midriff tops with their bellies all on show…
No, this Olga person has a good point – maybe British women should buy her book The UK for Beginners - and see themselves for how they really look!

Well, I was always taught that the only way is to stand up to them – give them a taste of their own medicine if possible. And on a couple of occasions that is exactly what I did at the age of 13 when one girl decided to make a habit of pulling my hair – life can be pretty tough in an all-girl school – but after a couple of well placed slaps to her mouth and the problem was solved.
And what people had to say…
