It’s time for the Princes to reclaim their mother

Tag: Newswendy @ 1:41 pm

After an inquest that has lasted six months and cost the British taxpayer £12million the jury has returned the verdict pretty much all of us expected – that Diana, Princess of Wales, Dodi Al Fayed and Henri Paul were all killed due to bad driving and failure to wear seatbelts. The involvement of the paparazzi was acknowledged as contributing to the fatal crash but did not cause it outright. We all knew this ten years ago, Mohammed Al Fayed knew this ten years ago. The circumstances will never change nor will the passing of time alter the fact that the car simply crashed due to being driven at dangerously high speed whilst it’s occupants, the one’s who died that is, were not secured in their seats.

Mr Al Fayed of course is not accepting this verdict, just as he refuses to accept his role in the events of that night. He is lucky he is not being sued himself. For the past ten years Al Fayed has done his best to claim Diana for all things she was not; she was not a member of his family, she was not pregnant with his grandchild and she was not engaged to his son. She died a divorced woman and devoted mother – she died at the height of a summer romance. It is time for Al Fayed to accept this at the very least.

There are just two people who really need to accept this verdict, two people to whom it matters most – Prince William and Prince Harry. They have accepted the outcome and surely that is what matters the most. Now can we please give back to them what vestige remains of the dignity Diana once enjoyed; if Diana belongs to anyone it is William and Harry.

Where does the TV signal go when you lose it?

Tag: Commercial,Family Lifewendy @ 8:05 am

We have had an ongoing saga which began on New Years Eve; for some reason we lost the TV signal and we put it down to high winds blowing the dish off course. Going without the TV was not too bad for a day or two but when this form of deprivation ran into weeks it can really plumb the depths of torture – especially if you have several sons who like their regular shows.

We checked everything and nothing worked; we checked wiring, the digibox, the HDMI cables and even bought an entire new dish, assembled it and mounted it by dragging it up the side of the building on the end of a strong rope (those things are heavy!). In the end we had to decide it just had to be the simple fact that it was not pointing in the right direction at the sky. I mean, how many satellites are there up there!

We used the same logic as those guys used in the Aussie film The Dish; used a compass and just aimed, shifted and pointed until we got it at last. Believe it or not this whole process took us nearly six weeks. Peace reigned again in the house; those people who take part in those social experiments to see how long they can last without their TV…they are absolutely crazy.
