Valentines Day is always a dodgy day in the year; we all claim it is too commercial and we should ignore the sales pitches and trashy cards – but how many of us actually go all giggly and soppy when on that morning we are handed a bunch of roses, or in my case, a pair of exquisite Swarovski earrings…

Ok, so we should take the time to express our love and appreciation of our loved one’s right through the year…but we don’t. Time flashes by, we are all busy and too often caught up in everyday life with it’s ups and downs to remember little things like a card and a gift, or just a few heart felt words.

Just as well we have Valentines Day then. It may be overly commercialised, it may be un-spontaneous, it may produce high expectations and big let downs in many of us, but at least it reminds us to think about that someone special in our lives – even if it only comes around once a year. And not only that, it makes us grateful to have someone who thinks that we are special too.
