Use a spell check guys!

Just recently I have been looking at a host of other blogs that feature paid posts and one thing stood out very clearly, and that is some bloggers really need to lift their game as regards to spelling, punctuation and grammar. Oh, and some thought to real content would be an idea too; content with some actual meaning!

Just now I have been reading some articles on a site that was the featured blog of the day on another site; I honestly do not know how she gets away with it as her most badly written entries were actually the paid one’s. No punctuation, and when it was used it was wrongly placed; terrible spelling and no idea about the use of capitol letters. Also, how often can one get away with writing ‘this is a great site to visit‘ in one paragraph and expect to be paid for such poor content?…quite often it seems.

We all can use a spell check; it is a facility on all computers so, darn it, use it!

One thing that rattles me is the terms and conditions that require a paid post to feature correct spelling and grammar and how many people are incapable of producing such. I can only assume the advertisers are not all that fussy, and they should be.

This is my response to poorly written posts!

Who owns the kitchen?

If you care to google the words ’chocolate mud cake’ will have a choice of several hundred thousand pages from which to choose your recipe. So when my son decided to bake a chocolate mud cake yesterday how come, with all that choice, he finds and prints out what has to be the most complicated recipe ever written?

There were twelve different ingredients to begin with; what goes into a choccy mud cake?…chocolate, flour, some butter, sugar and a couple of eggs! and all for a cake that will only rise about half an inch and have a shelf life of five minutes…if it’s lucky. I found a simple recipe for him in about 3 minutes using only what I had in the cupboard and then I was ordered out of the kitchen…he making it he proclaimed.

So out I walked and decided to watch a show on TV. Here’s how he made his cake…

* Called Mum after two minutes to come grease the tin as ‘ I don’t want buttery fingers ‘

* Called to Mum twice to ask ‘ what is half a cup in grams? ‘

* Called Mum to ‘ pick the egg shells out of the cake batter ‘

* Shouted at Mum for standing there watching him

* Called Mum to ‘hold the bowl while I scrape it into the tin’

* Blamed Mum after finding he had forgotten to add the sugar

* Placed cake in oven for half an hour…then remembered to turn it on.

Actually it all turned out okay, and he is improving but give him time, he’s only 22. But I’ve never been so tired after not baking a cake!

Computer games that the kids can play

It’s good to be able to find some games to download on the computer that the kids can safely play, even the little one’s like to get into the act now and my three year old son even has his own couple of PC games that he can play. If you are like me you will like those games that are challenging and test the mind; but where to go to find these and games for kids?

Midori offers a great range of mac games and other really interesting little components for your computer such as Real Ball2 and some cool software downloads that you can put to good use.  I particularly like Professor Fizzwizzle 2 as a choice for the littlies; lots of colour and great graphics which is what the kids love.

If you are into environmental issues then you will be interested in Global Warming as a game for all the family. Not only will it offer lots of fun but will educate you all and provide little tips for how to make your corner of the world more green friendly.  You can buy these games or do a quick and easy download either to your Mac or Windows PC.

Global Warming; get the game from Midori
