To anyone who is considering making a move to the ‘sunny’ south of France, think again. Or more to the point, make sure you have somewhere to go in the winter. Now, I take into account that there is something sinister happening to the world’s climate, but, I refuse to believe that global warming is a danger here!.
I grew up in Australia. In the summer we wore as little as possible when I lived there not too long ago. In the winter we wore a jumper, maybe a pair of jeans/slacks and some shoes. A raincoat if it rained. Then I was talked into moving to the south of France where I thought a coat would suffice in the winter.
It is winter now. I am currently wearing three layers of clothing, two pairs of socks and a scarf. The two sparrows outside who forgot to fly south keep trying to fly into my kitchen. I find myself collecting firewood for the fireplace as gas bottles cost money. My nose turns purple everytime I go outside. The wind howling past the house drowns out the television. What I used to know as ‘rain’ actually turns into ‘snow’ before it hits the ground. I hate snow because I slip over on it.
Maybe the penguins in the Arctic do have something to gripe about; but then maybe they would like to come and live here. If global warming is attacking their home then maybe we can swap places!.
