New site to come!

Yep, I’ve just come into possession of the domain Hamiltonfamilyhistory.com so soon I’ll be working on the site to thoroughly document my Hamilton family ancestry – and it’s an impressive one with it’s descent and connections to many significant lines.

I started researching back in the 1980′s – pre internet – so I have reems of paperwork and photographs to transfer to the new site and it will take up quite a bit of time. The result will be a great source of information to anyone researching this particular line and I hope to hear from those people.

Included will be the surnames of: Pakenham, Wellington, Courbarron ( a rare name with a severe shortage of date available online ), Upton and Stewart’s of Killymoon (picture of Killymoon Castle, Co.Tyrone above).

I’m still in the early stages of planning an appropriate format but plan to start asap. And all enquiries will be most welcome!.

Xmas arrives early in Bedfordshire

It seems the people of a certain town in England are finding it hard to get into the Xmas spirit even though it’s not that far away. The shire council of Leighton Buzzard (you only find names like this in the UK) have decided to put up its’ festive lights display on the 24th September – 92 days early!.

Most people welcome the appearance of Xmas decorations but the inhabitants of the little market town are highly critical of the councils move. ‘It’s too early’…’autumn has only just begun’…’winter isn’t even here yet’…’the council must be mad!’.

I don’t know. It is true that the population are having Xmas foisted upon us earlier and earlier each year but I really can see nothing wrong with the decision to start the decorating now. Xmas brings it’s own brand of ‘cheer’ and, judging by the present social and economic climate in the UK, the country could do with a huge dose of it.

But going by the reactions of the people…it is not working. Bah humbug.
